Specifications

Controls and Display

Control Panel: POWER, PROGRAM, 1-CUP, 2-CUP, STEAM, GRIND SIZE, COFFEE STRENGTH, TEMPERATURE.

Indicator Lights: Power On, Ready, Steam Ready, Descaling Alert, Program Mode.

Basic Functions: Press POWER to turn on. Machine heats up; READY light illuminates. Use 1-CUP or 2-CUP for preset volumes. Press STEAM to activate the steam wand for frothing. Press PROGRAM to enter settings mode for adjusting grind size, strength, and temperature.

Grinding Coffee

Adjust the grind size dial (1-18) for desired extraction. Finer for stronger espresso, coarser for lighter.

  1. Ensure bean hopper is filled.
  2. Turn the grind dial to your preferred setting.
  3. Place the portafilter under the grinder outlet.
  4. The machine will automatically grind the correct dose when a brew button is pressed (if using programmed dose) or you can manually hold the portafilter to grind.

Tip: For optimal espresso, use a fine to medium-fine grind (settings 4-8). Adjust based on coffee freshness and roast.

Brewing Espresso

For single or double shots using pre-programmed or manual volume.

  1. Preheat: Run a short water cycle through the portafilter to warm it.
  2. Dose and Tamp: Fill the portafilter with ground coffee. Firmly tamp using the provided tamper.
  3. Brew: Lock the portafilter into the group head. Place cup(s) underneath. Press 1-CUP or 2-CUP. The machine will brew at the set volume, strength, and temperature.
  4. Stop: Press the button again to stop brewing early if desired.

WARNING! The group head and portafilter become extremely hot during and after use. Always use the handle.

Frothing Milk

Use the steam wand to create microfoam for cappuccinos and lattes.

  1. Prepare: Fill the frothing jug with cold milk (no more than halfway). Purge the steam wand by turning it on briefly until steam flows consistently.
  2. Froth: Submerge the wand tip just below the milk surface. Turn the STEAM knob to full. Keep the wand tip near the surface to create foam. Lower the jug as milk expands to maintain vortex.
  3. Stop: Turn the STEAM knob off once milk reaches desired temperature (approx. 150°F). Wipe the wand with a damp cloth immediately and purge briefly to clear milk residue.

CAUTION! Steam is extremely hot. Keep hands and face away from the wand. Always purge before and after use.

Programming Settings

Customize your default brew parameters.

  1. Enter Program Mode: Press and hold the PROGRAM button for 3 seconds until the indicator flashes.
  2. Select Parameter: Use the COFFEE STRENGTH, TEMPERATURE, or CUP VOLUME buttons to select which setting to adjust.
  3. Adjust Value: Press the 1-CUP or 2-CUP buttons to increase or decrease the value (e.g., strength level 1-3). The display or lights will show the selection.
  4. Save & Exit: Press PROGRAM again to save the setting and move to the next, or wait 10 seconds to exit programming mode.

Note: Settings are saved in memory even after power off.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Daily: Empty the drip tray and used grounds container. Wipe the steam wand and group head with a damp cloth. Weekly: Clean the portafilter and basket with warm water. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

Backflushing (with cleaning tablet): Insert a cleaning tablet into the empty portafilter. Lock into group head. Place a large container under the spouts. Press both 1-CUP and 2-CUP buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds to start the cleaning cycle. Run until complete.

CAUTION! Unplug the machine before any deep cleaning. Never immerse the main unit in water.

Descaling

The DESCALE alert light will illuminate when mineral buildup requires removal.

  1. Prepare Solution: Empty the water tank. Fill with a descaling solution (Cuisinart recommended) mixed with water as per instructions.
  2. Enter Descaling Mode: Press and hold the STEAM and 2-CUP buttons for 5 seconds until all lights flash.
  3. Run Cycle: Place a large container under the group head and steam wand. The machine will automatically run solution through both systems in stages. Follow on-prompt lights.
  4. Rinse: After the cycle, refill the tank with fresh water and run several water-only cycles through both the group head and steam wand to flush any residue.

WARNING! Descaling is essential for performance and longevity. Use only approved descaling agents.
