Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, dry, level surface.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from inside and outside the unit.
  2. Wash carafe, filter basket, and charcoal filter with warm soapy water; rinse thoroughly.
  3. Insert charcoal water filter into holder in water reservoir (soak filter 15 minutes first).
  4. Plug power cord into 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse unit, cord, or plug in water. Keep away from heat sources.

First-Time Use

Before first brew, run a cleaning cycle with water only.

  1. Fill water reservoir to 12-cup mark with fresh cold water.
  2. Place empty filter basket and carafe in position.
  3. Press BREW button to start cycle; discard water after cycle completes.
  4. Set clock: Press and hold PROGRAM, then use HOUR and MIN buttons.
  5. Unit is now ready for programming or manual brewing.

CAUTION! Ensure carafe is properly seated on warming plate before brewing.

Programming Instructions

To set automatic brew time:

  1. Ensure clock is set correctly.
  2. Press PROGRAM once; PROGRAM icon will blink.
  3. Use HOUR and MIN buttons to set desired brew time.
  4. Press PROGRAM again to confirm; PROGRAM icon will stay lit.
  5. Fill water reservoir and add coffee grounds to filter basket.
  6. Unit will automatically brew at set time.

Tip: To cancel programmed time, press and hold PROGRAM until icon turns off.

Brewing Coffee

For manual or programmed brewing.

  1. Fill water reservoir with cold water to desired cup level.
  2. Place charcoal filter in holder (if using).
  3. Insert paper filter or permanent filter into basket.
  4. Add ground coffee (1 tablespoon per cup recommended).
  5. Place empty carafe on warming plate.
  6. For manual brew: Press BREW. For programmed brew: Ensure time is set.
  7. Brew Pause: To serve coffee during brew cycle, remove carafe (up to 20 seconds).
  8. When brewing completes, carafe will keep coffee warm on warming plate.

WARNING! Do not remove carafe during brew cycle for more than 20 seconds.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance.

  1. Daily: Wash carafe and filter basket with warm soapy water.
  2. Weekly: Wipe exterior with damp cloth; clean warming plate with non-abrasive cleaner.
  3. Monthly: Run self-cleaning cycle with vinegar solution (50% water, 50% white vinegar).
  4. Filter Replacement: Replace charcoal water filter every 60 cycles or 2 months.

CAUTION! Unplug unit before cleaning. Never immerse in water.
