Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a clean, dry, level surface away from edges.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from inside and outside the unit.
  2. Wash the carafe, filter basket, and charcoal water filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
  3. Insert the charcoal water filter into the holder in the water reservoir.
  4. Plug the power cord into a standard 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse the coffeemaker base, cord, or plug in water or other liquids. Ensure the power outlet is easily accessible.

First-Time Setup

Before first use, run a brewing cycle with water only to clean the interior.

  1. Fill the water reservoir to the 12-cup mark with fresh, cold water.
  2. Place an empty filter in the filter basket. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
  3. Press the ON/OFF button to start. Allow the full cycle to run.
  4. Discard the water. The unit is now ready for brewing coffee.
  5. Set the clock: Press and hold the HOUR and MINUTE buttons to set the current time.

CAUTION! The warming plate and carafe will become hot during use. Handle with care.

Brewing Coffee

For best results, use fresh, cold water and medium-grind coffee.

  1. Fill the water reservoir with desired amount of cold water.
  2. Place a #4 paper filter or permanent filter in the filter basket.
  3. Add coffee grounds (1 tablespoon per cup, adjust to taste).
  4. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
  5. For immediate brew: Press ON/OFF. For programmed brew: Ensure PROGRAM is set.
  6. Pause & Serve: You can press the carafe against the pause plate to interrupt brewing and pour a cup.
  7. When brewing is complete, an audible signal will sound.

Tip: For optimal flavor, use the 1-4 cup setting when brewing small amounts.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Daily: Wash carafe, lid, and filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
  2. Descaling: Run a cycle with a mixture of half white vinegar and half water monthly. Follow with 2 cycles of clean water to rinse.
  3. Self-Clean Cycle: When CLEAN light illuminates, fill reservoir with water, place an empty filter in the basket, and press CLEAN. The cycle will run automatically.
  4. Water Filter: Replace the charcoal water filter every 60 brew cycles or every 2 months.

CAUTION! Always unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely before cleaning. Never immerse the base in water.
