Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, dry, level surface away from edges.

  1. Install charcoal filter: Rinse filter, insert into filter holder in water reservoir.
  2. Insert permanent filter: Place gold-tone filter into filter basket.
  3. Place carafe: Ensure carafe is centered on warming plate.
  4. Plug into 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Keep cord away from heated surfaces. Do not immerse base, cord, or plug in water.

First-Time Use

Before first brew, run a cleaning cycle to remove manufacturing residues.

  1. Fill water reservoir to 12-cup mark with clean water.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar to water.
  3. Press CLEAN button; cycle runs for about 30 minutes.
  4. Rinse thoroughly by running two cycles with clean water only.
  5. Set clock: Press and hold CLOCK, use HOUR/MIN to set time.

CAUTION! Ensure carafe is in place before starting any cycle. Use only vinegar/water solution for cleaning.

Clock Setting: Press and hold CLOCK, adjust with HOUR/MIN. Program Brew Time: Press PROGRAM, set time with HOUR/MIN, press PROGRAM to confirm. Auto Shut-Off: Press AUTO OFF repeatedly to cycle through 0-4 hours. Strength Selector: Press STRENGTH for Regular or Bold brew. Clean Function: Press CLEAN to start cleaning cycle.

Programming & Brewing

For manual brew: Add water, coffee, press POWER then BREW. For programmed brew:

  1. Set clock if not already set.
  2. Press PROGRAM, use HOUR/MIN to set desired brew time.
  3. Press PROGRAM to confirm; "AUTO ON" icon appears.
  4. Add water to reservoir and coffee to filter.
  5. Unit will brew at programmed time.

Tip: Use 1 level scoop of ground coffee per cup (5.7 oz) for regular strength. Adjust to taste.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Daily: Empty carafe and rinse. Weekly: Clean carafe with mild detergent. Monthly: Descale with vinegar solution.

  1. Unplug and cool completely.
  2. Clean exterior with damp cloth; never use abrasive cleaners.
  3. Clean filter basket and permanent filter under running water.
  4. Replace charcoal filter every 60 cycles or 2 months.
  5. Run cleaning cycle monthly or as needed for descaling.

WARNING! Never immerse base, cord, or plug in water. Do not use harsh chemicals.
