Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect all contents. Place on a clean, dry, level, and heat-resistant surface.

  1. Insert Charcoal Water Filter: Soak filter in water for 15 minutes, then place in filter holder in water reservoir.
  2. Install Permanent Filter: Place the gold-tone filter into the filter basket.
  3. Wash Components: Wash carafe, filter basket, and scoop with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
  4. Plug into a standard 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Ensure the coffeemaker is unplugged and cool before handling components. Keep away from edges to prevent tipping.

First-Time Use

Before first brew, run a cleaning cycle with water only.

  1. Fill water reservoir to the 12-cup mark with fresh, cold water.
  2. Ensure the filter basket and carafe are in place.
  3. Press the POWER button to turn on.
  4. Press the BREW button to start the cycle. Discard the water after completion.
  5. Your coffeemaker is now ready for use.

CAUTION! Do not use without water. Never operate without the carafe properly positioned.

Programming: Use PROGRAM, HOUR, and MIN buttons to set clock and brew time. Auto Off: Set duration (0-4 hrs) using AUTO OFF button. Brew Strength: Select REGULAR or BOLD flavor. 1-4 Cup: Optimizes temperature and brew time for 1 to 4 cups.

Programming & Brewing

For manual or programmed brewing.

  1. Set the Clock: Press and hold HOUR and MIN until correct time is displayed.
  2. Manual Brew: Add water and coffee. Press POWER, then BREW.
  3. Programmed Brew: Add water and coffee. Press PROGRAM, then use HOUR/MIN to set brew time. Press PROGRAM again to confirm. The "Program" light will illuminate.
  4. Pause & Serve: During brew, remove carafe to pour a cup. Replace within 30 seconds to continue brewing.
  5. Auto Shut-Off: Press AUTO OFF to select duration (0, 1, 2, 3, 4 hours).

Tip: Use 1 level tablespoon of ground coffee per cup (5 oz) for Regular strength. Adjust to taste.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug and allow to cool completely before cleaning.

  1. Exterior: Wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse in water or use abrasive cleaners.
  2. Carafe & Filter Basket: Wash with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
  3. Permanent Filter: Rinse under running water to remove coffee oils. For deep cleaning, soak in a solution of vinegar and water.
  4. Charcoal Water Filter: Replace every 60 brew cycles or every 2 months for optimal performance.

CAUTION! Never use harsh chemicals, steel wool, or scouring pads on any surface.

Descaling

Mineral buildup from hard water can affect performance. Descale every 3-6 months.

  1. Fill reservoir with a solution of 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 water.
  2. Place an empty filter in the basket and position the empty carafe.
  3. Press POWER and BREW to start a half cycle. Let solution sit in unit for 15 minutes.
  4. Complete the brewing cycle. Discard vinegar solution.
  5. Run 2-3 cycles with fresh water only to rinse thoroughly.

WARNING! Always rinse thoroughly after descaling to remove all vinegar taste.
