Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a clean, dry, level surface away from edges.

  1. Insert Charcoal Filter: Soak filter in water for 15 minutes, then place in filter holder in water reservoir.
  2. Prepare Carafe: Remove lid and ensure carafe is clean and dry.
  3. Connect to Power: Plug into a standard 120V AC outlet.
  4. Prime the System: Fill reservoir with water and run a brewing cycle without coffee to clean interior.

WARNING! Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven. Ensure carafe lid is securely attached before pouring.

First-Time Use

Before first brew, clean the coffeemaker as follows:

  1. Fill water reservoir to MAX line with clean water.
  2. Place a paper filter in the filter basket (no coffee grounds).
  3. Place empty carafe on warming plate.
  4. Press the BREW button. Allow full cycle to run.
  5. Discard water. Repeat if desired.
  6. Your coffeemaker is now ready for brewing.

CAUTION! Handle carafe with care; contents will be hot. Use handles and knobs.

Programming the Clock & Timer

To set the clock and program automatic brewing:

  1. Set Clock: Press and hold HOUR and MIN until correct time is displayed.
  2. Program Brew Start: Press PROGRAM. Use HOUR and MIN to set desired start time. Press PROGRAM again to confirm.
  3. Set Auto Shut-Off: Press AUTO OFF repeatedly to select 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 hours.
  4. Cancel Program: Press and hold PROGRAM for 3 seconds until "PROGRAM" disappears from display.

Tip: Ensure water reservoir is filled and coffee grounds are loaded before programmed start time.

Brewing Coffee

For manual brewing:

  1. Fill reservoir with cold water to desired cup level.
  2. Place filter (paper or permanent) in filter basket.
  3. Add coffee grounds (1 tablespoon per cup, adjust to taste).
  4. Place empty carafe on plate, ensuring lid is closed.
  5. Select Brew Strength (Regular or Bold) if desired.
  6. Press BREW. Brewing begins; "BREW" light illuminates.
  7. Use Brew Pause: Press BREW PAUSE during cycle to pour a cup, then press again to resume.
  8. When cycle ends, "BREW" light turns off. Coffee is ready.

WARNING! Do not remove carafe during brewing unless using Brew Pause feature. Hot liquid may spill.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug and cool completely before cleaning.

  1. Exterior: Wipe with damp cloth. Do not immerse in water.
  2. Carafe and Lid: Wash with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  3. Filter Basket: Remove and wash with soapy water. Rinse well.
  4. Descaling (Self-Clean): When SELF CLEAN light flashes, run descaling cycle with vinegar solution (see manual for details).
  5. Charcoal Filter: Replace every 60 days or after 60 uses, or as needed.

CAUTION! Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads. Never immerse base, cord, or plug in water.
