Installation

Unpack and inspect all components. Place on a clean, dry, level surface away from edges.

  1. Rinse carafe and lid with warm water; do not immerse base.
  2. Install charcoal water filter: Soak filter in water for 15 minutes, then insert into filter holder in water reservoir.
  3. Fill water reservoir with cold water to desired cup level.
  4. Plug power cord into a 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Ensure unit is on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Keep cord away from hot surfaces.

First-Time Setup

Power on the unit; the LCD will illuminate.

  1. Set clock: Press and hold CLOCK, then use HOUR and MIN buttons to set current time.
  2. Select grind setting: Turn grind selector dial to desired coarseness (1-18).
  3. Program auto-start (optional): Press PROGRAM, set brew time, then press PROGRAM again to confirm.
  4. Perform a cleaning cycle: Run water through without coffee to flush system.

CAUTION! Do not add coffee beans until ready to brew. Ensure hopper lid is closed securely.

Grinding and Brewing

For fresh ground coffee: Fill bean hopper with whole beans. For pre-ground: Use GRIND OFF setting.

  1. Ensure carafe is in place and water reservoir is filled.
  2. Select grind setting (1-18) on side dial.
  3. Press BREW STRENGTH for Regular or Bold.
  4. Press POWER to start grinding and brewing immediately.
  5. To pause, lift carafe; replace to continue brewing.
  6. When brewing completes, unit beeps and auto-shutoff begins countdown.

Tip: Use 1 tablespoon of whole beans per cup as a starting ratio.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Daily: Empty grounds container and rinse carafe. Weekly: Clean burr grinder and run self-clean cycle.

  1. Unplug unit and allow to cool.
  2. Remove bean hopper and burr assembly; brush away coffee oils and residue.
  3. Wipe exterior with damp cloth; do not use abrasive cleaners.
  4. Run self-clean: Fill reservoir, press CLEAN; cycle runs for 30 seconds.
  5. Replace charcoal water filter every 60 cycles or 2 months.

CAUTION! Never immerse base, cord, or plug in water. Do not clean burrs with water.

Programmable Timer

Set the unit to grind and brew automatically at a preset time.

  1. Ensure clock is set correctly.
  2. Press PROGRAM; "PROG" icon flashes.
  3. Use HOUR and MIN to set desired brew time.
  4. Press PROGRAM again to confirm; "PROG" icon stays lit.
  5. Fill hopper with beans and reservoir with water before programmed time.
  6. To cancel, press and hold PROGRAM until "PROG" icon turns off.

Note: If power is interrupted, reprogram the clock and timer settings.
