Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, dry, level surface.

  1. Insert charcoal water filter: Soak filter in water for 15 minutes, then place in filter holder.
  2. Install gold-tone filter basket: Place basket in brew basket area.
  3. Position carafe: Ensure carafe is centered on warming plate.
  4. Plug into 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse coffeemaker, cord, or plug in water. Keep away from edges to prevent tipping.

First-Time Use

Before first brew, clean interior by running a cycle with water only.

  1. Fill water reservoir: Add fresh cold water to 10-cup line.
  2. Start cleaning cycle: Press ON/OFF button without adding coffee.
  3. Discard water: Empty carafe after cycle completes.
  4. Brew first pot: Add desired coffee grounds and water, then brew.

CAUTION! Use only cold water. Do not use without water in reservoir.

Programming & Brewing

For regular brewing or programmed start.

  1. Add water: Fill reservoir to desired cup level.
  2. Add coffee: Place grounds in filter basket (1 tbsp per cup).
  3. Immediate brew: Press ON/OFF to start.
  4. Programmed brew: Press PROGRAM, set time with HOUR/MINUTE, then press PROGRAM again.
  5. Brew Pause: Lift carafe during brewing to pour a cup, then replace to continue.
  6. 1-4 Cup Setting: Press 1-4 CUP button before brewing for optimal extraction.

Tip: Use fresh, cold water and medium grind coffee for best results.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Daily: Empty carafe and rinse. Weekly: Clean carafe, filter basket, and water reservoir.

  1. Descale monthly: Mix vinegar and water (1:2), run through brew cycle, then run 2 cycles with clean water.
  2. Replace charcoal filter: Every 60 brew cycles or 2 months.
  3. Exterior cleaning: Wipe with damp cloth; never immerse in water.
  4. Filter basket: Wash with warm, soapy water; rinse thoroughly.

WARNING! Unplug before cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

Care Instructions

Store in dry place. Use only original parts for replacement.

CAUTION! Do not operate without water or filter basket. Avoid using cracked carafe.
