Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect all components. Place on a clean, dry, level surface away from edges.

  1. Install charcoal filter: Rinse filter under cold water, insert into filter holder in water reservoir.
  2. Insert permanent filter: Place gold-tone filter into the filter basket.
  3. Attach carafe: Ensure carafe is centered on warming plate.
  4. Plug into a 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Handle glass carafe with care. Do not use if cracked or chipped. Ensure coffeemaker is unplugged during setup.

First-Time Use

Before first brew, clean the coffeemaker by running a cycle with water only.

  1. Fill reservoir: Add fresh cold water up to the 10-cup mark.
  2. Start cleaning cycle: Press POWER to begin brewing without coffee grounds.
  3. Discard water: Empty carafe after cycle completes.
  4. Set clock: Press and hold CLOCK, then use HOUR/MIN to set current time.

CAUTION! Do not add coffee grounds during cleaning cycle. Allow coffeemaker to cool between cycles.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures performance and longevity.

  1. Daily: Empty and rinse carafe and filter basket after each use.
  2. Weekly: Wash carafe, filter basket, and permanent filter with warm soapy water.
  3. Monthly: Descale by running a cycle with equal parts water and white vinegar, then rinse with two cycles of clean water.
  4. Filter Replacement: Replace charcoal water filter every 60 cycles.

WARNING! Unplug before cleaning. Do not immerse base, cord, or plug in water. Never use abrasive cleaners.

Care Instructions
