Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a clean, dry, level, and heat-resistant surface.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and stickers from the carafe, filter basket, and unit.
  2. Wash the carafe, filter basket, and charcoal water filter holder with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
  3. Insert the charcoal water filter into the holder and soak it in water for 10 minutes. Rinse under running water for 60 seconds.
  4. Place the filter holder into the water reservoir at the back of the unit.
  5. Plug the power cord into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse the coffeemaker base, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid. Ensure the power cord is not dangling over the edge of a counter.

First-Time Setup

Before first use, perform a cleaning cycle to remove any manufacturing residues.

  1. Fill the water reservoir to the 12-cup mark with clean, cold water.
  2. Place a paper filter in the filter basket. Do not add coffee grounds.
  3. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
  4. Press the POWER button to turn the unit on. The LCD will illuminate.
  5. Press and hold the CLEAN button for 3 seconds to start the cleaning cycle. The unit will run water through the system.
  6. When cycle is complete, discard the water from the carafe. The coffeemaker is now ready for use.

CAUTION! The warming plate and carafe will become hot during operation. Handle with care using the handle.

Brewing Coffee

For best results, use fresh, cold water and medium grind coffee.

  1. Fill the water reservoir with desired amount of cold water. Use cup markings as a guide.
  2. Place a paper filter or the permanent gold-tone filter into the filter basket.
  3. Add coffee grounds. Standard measure is 1 tablespoon per cup (adjust to taste).
  4. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate, ensuring it is properly seated.
  5. Press POWER to turn the unit on. The "Ready" light will illuminate.
  6. Select BREW STRENGTH if desired (Regular or Bold). For 1-4 cups, press the 1-4 CUP button.
  7. Press the BREW button to start the brewing cycle. The "Brewing" light will turn on.
  8. To pour a cup during brewing, use the PAUSE & SERVE function by lifting the carafe. Replace within 30 seconds to continue brewing.
  9. When brewing is complete, an audible signal will sound. The warming plate will keep coffee hot based on the AUTO OFF setting.

WARNING! Do not place carafe on warming plate without the lid. Scalding may occur if lid is removed during brewing.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and coffee flavor.

Daily: Discard used grounds and filter. Wash carafe, lid, and filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. Wipe exterior with a soft, damp cloth.

Weekly/Monthly: Descale the unit to remove mineral deposits. Fill reservoir with a solution of equal parts white vinegar and water. Run a brew cycle without coffee grounds. Follow with 1-2 cycles of clean water to rinse. Replace the charcoal water filter every 60 brew cycles or every 2 months.

CAUTION! Unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely before cleaning. Never use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.

Programming

To set the clock and program automatic brewing.

  1. Press and hold the PROGRAM button. The "Program" light will blink.
  2. Use the HOUR and MIN buttons to set the current time. Press PROGRAM to confirm.
  3. To set an auto-brew time, press PROGRAM again. The "Auto On" light will blink.
  4. Use HOUR and MIN to set the desired brew time (e.g., 7:00 AM). Press PROGRAM to confirm.
  5. Ensure the unit is ON and the "Auto On" light is illuminated. The coffeemaker will now brew automatically at the set time.
  6. To set the Auto Shut-Off duration, press the AUTO OFF button repeatedly to cycle through options (0, 0.5, 1, 2, 4 hrs).

To cancel a programmed brew time, press and hold the PROGRAM button until the "Auto On" light turns off.
