Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, dry, level surface.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from carafe, filter basket, and unit.
  2. Wash carafe, lid, and filter basket with warm soapy water; rinse thoroughly.
  3. Install charcoal water filter: Soak filter in water for 5 minutes, then insert into filter holder.
  4. Plug into 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse unit in water. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.

First-Time Setup

Power on unit; follow initial setup steps.

  1. Set clock: Press and hold CLOCK button, use HOUR/MINUTE buttons to set time.
  2. Prime water filter: Run a full cycle of water only (without coffee) to activate filter.
  3. Adjust grind settings: Turn grind selector to desired coarseness (1-10).
  4. Program auto brew: Press PROGRAM, set brew time using HOUR/MINUTE buttons.

CAUTION! Ensure carafe is properly seated before brewing.

Brewing Coffee

For fresh ground or pre-ground coffee.

  1. Fill reservoir with cold water using carafe markings.
  2. Add coffee: Use 1 tablespoon per cup (adjust to taste).
  3. Select brew strength: Press BREW STRENGTH for regular or bold.
  4. Press POWER to start brewing.
  5. Pause & Serve: Press PAUSE during brewing to pour a cup.
  6. Auto brew: Set PROGRAM time; unit will start automatically.

Tip: Use filtered water for better tasting coffee.

Using the Grinder

Built-in grinder for whole beans.

  1. Add whole beans to bean hopper (max 8 oz).
  2. Select grind size: Turn GRIND SIZE dial (1= finest, 10= coarsest).
  3. Grind amount adjusts automatically based on water amount.
  4. For pre-ground coffee: Set GRIND SIZE to 0 (bypass).

WARNING! Never operate grinder without beans. Keep fingers away from grinding mechanism.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Daily: Empty grounds basket, rinse carafe and filter basket. Weekly: Clean with vinegar solution.

  1. Mix equal parts white vinegar and water; fill reservoir.
  2. Place empty carafe; press CLEAN button.
  3. After half cycle, turn off and let sit 15 minutes.
  4. Complete cycle, then run two cycles with clean water.
  5. Replace water filter every 60 cycles or 2 months.

CAUTION! Unplug before cleaning exterior. Never use abrasive cleaners.
