Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, dry, level surface.

  1. Insert charcoal water filter: Soak filter in water for 5 minutes, then place in filter holder.
  2. Install permanent filter: Place gold-tone filter into filter basket.
  3. Position carafe: Place empty glass carafe on warming plate.
  4. Fill water reservoir: Lift lid and add water up to desired cup level.
  5. Plug into AC power outlet.

WARNING! Ensure unit is unplugged during installation. Keep away from water sources to prevent electric shock.

First-Time Setup

Plug in unit; follow initial setup steps.

  1. Prime the filter: Run a brew cycle with water only (no coffee) to activate charcoal filter.
  2. Set clock: Press and hold CLOCK button, use HOUR/MINUTE to set current time.
  3. Program brew time: Press PROGRAM, set desired brew time (e.g., 7:00 AM).
  4. Adjust settings: Use BREW STRENGTH for regular or bold coffee.

CAUTION! Do not operate without water in reservoir. Ensure carafe is properly seated.

Brewing Coffee

  2. Add coffee: Place 1 tablespoon of ground coffee per cup into filter basket.
  3. Start brewing: Press POWER, then BREW to begin immediate brewing.
  4. Pause and pour: Press BREW PAUSE to pour a cup during brewing.
  5. Auto shut-off: Unit turns off automatically 2 hours after brewing completes.

Tip: Use fresh, cold water and medium grind coffee for best results.

Programming & Timer

Set unit to brew automatically at a specific time.

  1. Set current time: Press and hold CLOCK, adjust with HOUR/MINUTE.
  2. Program brew time: Press PROGRAM, set desired brew time using HOUR/MINUTE.
  3. Confirm: Press PROGRAM again to save settings (PROGRAM light will illuminate).
  4. To cancel: Press and hold PROGRAM for 3 seconds until light turns off.
  5. Ensure water and coffee are loaded before programmed time.

Note: Unit must remain plugged in for program memory to be retained.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Daily: Empty and rinse carafe and filter basket after each use.
  2. Weekly: Run self-cleaning cycle (press CLEAN button when unit is off).
  3. Monthly: Descale with vinegar solution (1 part vinegar to 2 parts water).
  4. Filter replacement: Replace charcoal water filter every 60 brew cycles or 2 months.
  5. Exterior: Wipe with damp cloth; do not immerse in water.

CAUTION! Unplug before cleaning. Never use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
