Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, dry, level surface.

  1. Install charcoal filter: Rinse filter, insert into filter holder in water reservoir.
  2. Insert permanent filter: Place gold-tone filter into filter basket.
  3. Add water: Fill reservoir with cold water to desired cup level (10-cup max).
  4. Plug into 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse coffeemaker, cord, or plug in water. Keep away from heat sources.

First-Time Use

Before first brew, run a cleaning cycle.

  1. Set time: Press CLOCK, use HOUR/MIN to set current time.
  2. Clean: Fill reservoir with water (no coffee), press CLEAN. Run cycle twice.
  3. Brew first pot: Add coffee grounds to filter, fill reservoir, press BREW.
  4. Program: Set AUTO ON time using PROGRAM button.

CAUTION! Ensure carafe is properly seated on warming plate before brewing.

Programming & Operation

For daily automatic brewing.

  1. Set clock: Press CLOCK, adjust HOUR/MIN, press CLOCK again.
  2. Set program time: Press PROGRAM, set desired brew time with HOUR/MIN.
  3. Enable auto brew: Press AUTO ON; AUTO ON light will illuminate.
  4. Add coffee/water: Place grounds in filter, fill reservoir, close lid.
  5. Coffeemaker will brew automatically at set time.
  6. Brew Pause: During brew cycle, remove carafe to pour cup (up to 20 seconds).

Tip: Use 1 level scoop per cup (6 oz) for optimal strength.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures best performance.

  1. Daily: Empty carafe and filter basket; rinse carafe with warm water.
  2. Weekly: Clean exterior with damp cloth; descale if in hard water area.
  3. Monthly: Replace charcoal water filter (every 60 brew cycles or 2 months).
  4. Clean alert: When CLEAN light flashes, run cleaning cycle (water only).
  5. Descale: Use vinegar solution (1 part vinegar to 2 parts water) and run brew cycle.

WARNING! Unplug before cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
