Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a clean, dry, level surface.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from inside and outside the coffeemaker.
  2. Wash the carafe, lid, and filter basket with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
  3. Insert the charcoal water filter into the filter holder (soak filter first if required).
  4. Place the gold-tone filter into the filter basket.
  5. Plug the power cord into a standard 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse the coffeemaker base, cord, or plug in water or other liquids. Ensure the carafe is properly positioned before brewing.

First-Time Setup

Before first use, run a brewing cycle with water only to clean the unit.

  1. Fill the water reservoir with clean water to the 10-cup mark.
  2. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
  3. Press the POWER button to turn on the unit.
  4. Press the BREW button to start the cleaning cycle.
  5. Discard the water after the cycle is complete. The coffeemaker is now ready for use.

CAUTION! The warming plate and carafe will become hot during operation. Handle with care.

Control Panel: POWER, PROGRAM, HOUR, MIN, AUTO ON, AUTO OFF, BREW.

LCD Display: Shows clock time, program time, and auto-off status.

Setting the Clock: Press and hold HOUR and MIN to set current time. Programming Brew Time: Press PROGRAM, then use HOUR and MIN to set desired brew time. Press PROGRAM again to confirm. Auto Shut-Off: Press AUTO OFF to set shut-off delay (0-4 hours). Brew Pause: Press the BREW PAUSE lever during brewing to temporarily stop flow and pour a cup.

Brewing Coffee

For best results, use fresh, cold water and medium grind coffee.

  1. Fill the water reservoir with desired amount of water (see water window).
  2. Place the gold-tone filter in the filter basket.
  3. Add coffee grounds (1 tablespoon per cup, adjust to taste).
  4. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
  5. Press POWER to turn on the unit.
  6. Press BREW to start immediate brewing, or set a programmed start time.
  7. When brewing is complete, an audible signal will sound. The auto-keep-warm function will activate.

Tip: For optimal flavor, clean the coffeemaker regularly and replace the charcoal water filter every 60 brew cycles or as indicated.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Unplug and allow to cool before cleaning.

  1. Carafe and Lid: Wash with warm, soapy water. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  2. Filter Basket and Gold-Tone Filter: Remove and wash. Rinse thoroughly.
  3. Exterior: Wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals.
  4. Descaling: Perform every 3-6 months using a descaling solution or white vinegar mixture as per instructions.
  5. Charcoal Water Filter: Replace every 60 cycles or every two months.

CAUTION! Never immerse the base, cord, or plug in water. Do not use the carafe if cracked or chipped.
