Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, dry, level surface.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from coffeemaker and carafe.
  2. Wash carafe, lid, gold-tone filter, and measuring scoop with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
  3. Insert charcoal water filter into filter holder (soak filter first per instructions).
  4. Place gold-tone filter into filter basket.
  5. Fill water reservoir with clean, cold water to desired level.

WARNING! Do not immerse coffeemaker base, cord, or plug in water or other liquids. Ensure hands are dry when handling plug.

First-Time Setup

Plug into 120V AC outlet; follow initial setup steps.

  1. Set time: Press and hold CLOCK button; use HOUR and MIN buttons to set current time.
  2. Program brew start (optional): Press PROG button; set desired brew time using HOUR and MIN.
  3. Select 1-4 cup setting: Press 1-4 CUP button when brewing small amounts.
  4. Test brew: Run a cycle with water only to clean interior before first coffee brew.

CAUTION! Place coffeemaker away from edges and heat sources. Ensure carafe is properly positioned before brewing.

Brewing Coffee

Supports ground coffee only; do not use whole beans.

  1. Ensure gold-tone filter and charcoal water filter are in place.
  2. Fill reservoir with cold water to desired cup level.
  3. Add ground coffee to filter (1 tablespoon per cup, adjust to taste).
  4. Place empty carafe on warming plate.
  5. Press POWER to start immediate brew, or set programmed start time.
  6. During brew, BREW PAUSE feature allows pouring (replace carafe within 20 seconds).
  7. When cycle finishes, audible signal sounds and auto shut-off begins.

Tip: For best results, use fresh, cold water and medium grind coffee. Clean carafe and filter after each use.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Unplug and cool before cleaning. Wash carafe, lid, filter, and scoop with warm, soapy water. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

  1. Exterior: Wipe with damp cloth; dry thoroughly.
  2. Interior: Run vinegar solution (1 part vinegar to 2 parts water) through brew cycle monthly to decalcify. Follow with 2 cycles of clean water.
  3. Charcoal filter: Replace every 60 cycles or 2 months (soak new filter 15 minutes before first use).
  4. Gold-tone filter: Clean with soft brush; ensure no coffee grounds block holes.

CAUTION! Never immerse coffeemaker base, cord, or plug in water. Do not use harsh chemicals.
