Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect all contents. Place on a clean, dry, level surface near an electrical outlet.

  1. Insert the Charcoal Water Filter: Soak filter in water for 10 minutes, then place into the filter holder in the water reservoir.
  2. Prepare the Carafe: Remove all packaging materials. Wash carafe, lid, and permanent filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
  3. Prime the Filter: Before first use, run a brewing cycle with only water (no coffee) to prime the filter and clean the system.
  4. Plug into a standard 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse the coffeemaker base, cord, or plug in water or other liquids. Ensure the carafe lid is securely attached before pouring.

First Use Instructions

After initial setup, follow these steps for first brew.

  1. Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water up to the 10-cup mark.
  2. Place the gold-tone permanent filter into the filter basket.
  3. Add medium-grind coffee: Use 1 level scoop per cup, or adjust to taste.
  4. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate, ensuring it is centered.
  5. Press the POWER button to turn the unit on. The LCD will illuminate.
  6. Press the BREW button to start the brewing cycle.

CAUTION! The carafe and brewed coffee will be very hot. Handle with care using the handle.

Programming the Clock & Auto Brew

Setting the Clock:

  1. With unit ON, press and hold PROGRAM for 3 seconds. The hour digit will flash.
  2. Press HOUR or MIN to set the correct time. Press PROGRAM to move between hour and minute settings.
  3. Press PROGRAM again to exit clock set mode.

Setting Auto Brew:

  1. Ensure clock is set correctly and unit is ON.
  2. Press and release AUTO ON. The "AUTO ON" icon will illuminate.
  3. Press HOUR or MIN to set the desired brew start time.
  4. Press AUTO ON again to confirm. The "AUTO ON" icon will remain lit.
  5. Prepare the coffeemaker with water and coffee the night before. It will brew automatically at the set time.

Tip: To cancel Auto Brew, press and hold AUTO ON for 3 seconds until the icon turns off.

Brewing Coffee

For optimal coffee flavor.

  1. Fill reservoir with cold water to desired cup level.
  2. Insert the permanent filter into the basket. Add medium-grind coffee (1 scoop per cup).
  3. Place empty carafe on the warming plate.
  4. Press POWER to turn on. Select 1-4 CUP if making 4 cups or less.
  5. Press BREW to start. The "BREW" light will illuminate.
  6. Use the BREW PAUSE function by removing the carafe during brewing to pour a cup. Replace within 30 seconds to continue cycle.
  7. When cycle finishes, the "BREW" light turns off and an audible signal sounds (if enabled).

WARNING! Never place the carafe on the warming plate without the lid securely in place. Do not brew without the carafe in position.

Care & Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures best performance and longevity.

Daily: Discard used grounds. Wash carafe, lid, and permanent filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. Wipe exterior with a damp cloth.

Monthly/Descaling: Mineral buildup can affect performance. Run a brewing cycle with a descaling solution (vinegar mixture or commercial descaler) following solution instructions. Follow with 2-3 cycles of clean water to rinse.

Charcoal Filter: Replace every 60 days or after 60 uses for optimal water filtration.

CAUTION! Unplug and allow to cool completely before cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
