First-Time Use

Before first brew, clean the coffeemaker by running a cycle with water only.

  1. Fill the water reservoir with clean water to the 12-cup mark.
  2. Ensure the filter basket is empty and the carafe is in place.
  3. Press the POWER button to begin the cleaning cycle.
  4. Discard the water from the carafe after the cycle is complete.
  5. Set the clock by pressing and holding the HOUR and MINUTE buttons.

CAUTION! Do not use soap for the initial cleaning cycle. The carafe may be hot.

Brewing Guide

For optimal coffee flavor.

  1. Fill the removable water reservoir with fresh, cold water.
  2. Place the gold-tone filter in the filter basket.
  3. Add ground coffee (1 tablespoon per cup, adjust to taste).
  4. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
  5. Press POWER to begin brewing.
  6. For 1-4 cups, press the 1-4 CUP button for stronger flavor.
  7. Use the BREW PAUSE feature to pour a cup early if needed.
  8. When brewing is complete, the auto shut-off will turn off the warming plate after 2 hours.

WARNING! Never remove the carafe while brewing is in progress unless using the Brew Pause feature. Hot liquid can spill.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug and allow to cool before cleaning. Clean exterior with a damp cloth. Do not immerse in water.

Decalcification: Run a cleaning cycle with a vinegar solution every 3-6 months to remove mineral deposits.

Filter Care: Rinse the gold-tone filter after each use. Replace the charcoal water filter every 2 months or after 60 uses.

CAUTION! Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads. Never wash the carafe or filter basket in the dishwasher if they have metal parts.

Safety Information

This appliance is for household use only. Polarized plug (one blade wider) reduces shock risk; ensure proper outlet. Do not operate if cord or plug is damaged. Keep cord away from hot surfaces.
