Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, dry, level surface away from edges.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and stickers.
  2. Wash carafe lid, filter basket, and charcoal filter holder in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
  3. Insert charcoal water filter into filter holder and soak in water for 15 minutes.
  4. Place filter holder in water reservoir.
  5. Plug power cord into 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse coffee maker, cord, or plug in water. Keep away from heat sources.

First-Time Setup

Power on coffee maker; follow initial setup steps.

  1. Set clock: Press and hold HOUR and MINUTE buttons to set current time.
  2. Prime the filter: Run a brewing cycle with only water (no coffee) to activate charcoal filter.
  3. Select auto shut-off: Press AUTO OFF to choose 0-4 hours.
  4. Set brew strength: Press BREW STRENGTH for Regular or Bold.
  5. Program brew time: Use PROGRAM button to set future brew start time.

CAUTION! Ensure carafe is properly seated on base before brewing.

Brewing Coffee

For best results, use fresh, cold water and medium grind coffee.

  1. Fill water reservoir to desired cup level.
  2. Place gold tone filter or paper filter in filter basket.
  3. Add coffee grounds (1 tablespoon per cup).
  4. Place empty carafe on warming base.
  5. Press POWER to start immediate brew, or PROGRAM for delayed brew.
  6. During brew, PAUSE & SERVE allows you to pour a cup.
  7. When complete, audible signal sounds; auto shut-off activates.

Tip: For 1-4 cups, press 1-4 CUP button for optimal flavor extraction.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Daily: Wash carafe, lid, and filter basket. Monthly: Descale with vinegar solution.

  1. Self-cleaning cycle: Fill reservoir with equal parts vinegar and water. Press CLEAN button (if equipped) or run brew cycle without coffee. Rinse with two cycles of fresh water.
  2. Charcoal filter: Replace every 60 days or after 60 uses.
  3. Exterior: Wipe with damp cloth; do not use abrasive cleaners.

CAUTION! Unplug before cleaning. Never immerse base in water.

Programmable Functions

Delayed Brew: Set PROGRAM time. Auto Shut-Off: Choose 0, 2, or 4 hours. Brew Strength: Toggle between Regular/Bold.

To Program: Press PROGRAM, then HOUR/MINUTE to set start time. Press PROGRAM again to confirm. "PROG" icon appears on display.
