Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, dry, level surface.

  1. Insert charcoal filter: Soak filter in water for 15 minutes, then place in filter holder.
  2. Install gold-tone filter: Place permanent filter into filter basket.
  3. Add water: Fill reservoir with cold water up to 12-cup mark.
  4. Plug into AC power (120V, 60Hz).

WARNING! Do not immerse unit in water. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.

First-Time Use

Before first brew, run a cleaning cycle with vinegar and water.

  1. Set clock: Press CLOCK button, use HOUR/MIN to set current time.
  2. Clean unit: Fill reservoir with equal parts white vinegar and water, run brew cycle without coffee.
  3. Rinse: Run two cycles with clean water to remove vinegar residue.
  4. Add coffee: Use 1 tablespoon ground coffee per cup (adjust to taste).

CAUTION! Ensure carafe is properly seated on warming plate before brewing.

Programming & Operation

To program for automatic brewing:

  1. Ensure unit is plugged in and clock is set.
  2. Fill reservoir with water and add coffee to filter.
  3. Press PROGRAM, then use HOUR/MIN to set desired brew time.
  4. Press PROGRAM again to confirm. "Program" light will illuminate.
  5. Unit will automatically brew at set time.

Tip: Use brew pause feature to pour a cup during brewing cycle.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and coffee flavor.

  1. Daily: Empty and rinse carafe and filter basket after each use.
  2. Weekly: Clean exterior with damp cloth; descale if water is hard.
  3. Monthly: Replace charcoal water filter (soak new filter 15 min before use).
  4. As needed: Clean gold-tone filter with warm water and mild detergent.

WARNING! Never immerse unit, cord, or plug in water. Unplug before cleaning.

Care Instructions

Use only cold water in reservoir. Use medium grind coffee for best results. Store unit in dry place when not in use.
