Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect all contents. Place on a clean, dry, level, and heat-resistant surface away from edges.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and tape from carafe, filter basket, and water reservoir.
  2. Wash carafe, lid, filter basket, and permanent gold-tone filter in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
  3. Insert the charcoal water filter into the holder in the water reservoir (soak filter first for 15 minutes).
  4. Fill water reservoir with clean, cold water to the 12-cup mark to season the system. Run a brewing cycle without coffee.
  5. Plug power cord into a 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not place near heat sources or in areas prone to splashing. Ensure carafe is properly positioned before brewing.

First-Time Use

After initial setup and seasoning cycle, your coffee maker is ready for programming and brewing.

  1. Set the Clock: Press and hold HOUR and MINUTE buttons to set current time on the LCD display.
  2. Fill reservoir with desired amount of cold water (1 to 12 cups).
  3. Add whole bean coffee to the grinder hopper (up to ½ lb). Select grind setting (Coarse to Fine).
  4. Place the permanent filter or a paper filter into the filter basket. Place empty carafe on warming plate.
  5. Select Brew Strength (Regular or Bold) using the control button.
  6. Press BREW to start immediate grinding and brewing cycle.

CAUTION! Never operate without water in the reservoir. Always use the carafe provided.

Programming & Operation

Brew Pause & Serve: During brewing, you may remove carafe to pour a cup for up to 30 seconds. Replace carafe to continue cycle.

Tip: For best results, use fresh, cold water and whole beans. Clean grinder regularly.

Grinder Operation

The built-in grinder operates automatically when BREW or programmed cycle starts.

  1. Add whole beans to hopper. Do not exceed MAX fill line.
  2. Select grind size using GRIND CONTROL dial.
  3. When brewing starts, grinder will run automatically for the precise time needed for selected cup amount.
  4. Ground coffee drops directly into the filter basket.

WARNING! Never insert spoons, fingers, or any objects into grinder hopper. Unplug before cleaning grinder. Do not use with wet beans.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Unplug unit and allow to cool before cleaning.

Daily: Discard used grounds. Wash carafe, lid, and filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.

Weekly/Monthly:

  1. Descale: Run a brewing cycle with equal parts white vinegar and water. Follow with 2-3 cycles of clean water to rinse.
  2. Clean Grinder: Use a dry brush to remove coffee oils and residue from burrs. Do not use water or liquids.
  3. Charcoal Filter: Replace every 60 days or after 60 uses for optimal water filtration.
