Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect all parts. Place on a clean, dry, level surface near a power outlet.

  1. Insert the charcoal water filter: Soak filter in water for 15 minutes, then place into the filter holder in the water reservoir.
  2. Install the gold-tone filter: Place the permanent filter into the filter basket.
  3. Attach the bean hopper: Align and twist the hopper onto the grinder unit until secure.
  4. Fill the water reservoir: Use the carafe to add fresh, cold water up to the desired cup level.
  5. Plug into a 120V AC power outlet.

WARNING! Ensure hands are dry before handling the unit or plugging in. Do not immerse the base, cord, or plug in water.

First-Time Use

Before first brew, run a cleaning cycle with water only (no coffee).

  1. Ensure the hopper is empty and the filter basket contains the permanent filter.
  2. Fill the reservoir with fresh water to the 10-cup mark.
  3. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
  4. Press the POWER button to turn on. Press BREW to start the cleaning cycle.
  5. Discard the water from the carafe after the cycle completes. The unit is now ready for use.

CAUTION! The warming plate and carafe will become hot during operation. Use handles.

Programming the Timer

To set the clock and program automatic brew:

  1. Press and hold HOUR and MIN to set the current time.
  2. Press PROGRAM, then use HOUR and MIN to set the desired brew time.
  3. Ensure the bean hopper contains enough whole beans and the reservoir is filled with water.
  4. The display will show the programmed time. The "Auto" icon will light when programmed.
  5. To cancel, press and hold PROGRAM until the "Auto" icon disappears.

Tip: Program the night before for fresh coffee ready when you wake up.

Grinding and Brewing

For manual, immediate brewing:

  1. Fill the bean hopper with whole coffee beans.
  2. Fill the water reservoir to the desired cup level (1-10).
  3. Set the CUP SELECTOR to match the water level.
  4. Adjust the GRIND SELECTOR to your preference.
  5. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
  6. Press POWER to turn on. Press BREW to start the grind and brew cycle.
  7. To pause brewing and pour a cup, press BREW PAUSE. Press again to resume.
  8. When cycle finishes, the warming plate will keep coffee hot based on the AUTO OFF setting.

WARNING! Never remove the bean hopper or filter basket during grinding or brewing.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Unplug and cool completely before cleaning.

  1. Daily: Wash carafe, lid, and permanent filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
  2. Weekly: Wipe exterior with a damp cloth. Clean the bean hopper and grinder chamber with the provided brush.
  3. Monthly: Descale the unit by running a cycle with a mixture of white vinegar and water (50/50), followed by 2-3 cycles with clean water.
  4. Charcoal Filter: Replace every 60 days or after 60 uses for optimal performance.

CAUTION! Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads. Never immerse the base in water.
