Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, dry, stable surface.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from coffeemaker and carafe.
  2. Wash carafe lid and filter basket with warm, soapy water; rinse thoroughly.
  3. Insert charcoal water filter into holder in water reservoir; soak filter for 5 minutes.
  4. Place gold-tone filter into filter basket.
  5. Plug power cord into 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse coffeemaker, cord, or plug in water. Keep away from heat sources.

First-Time Setup

Before first use, run a brewing cycle with water only to clean the system.

  1. Fill water reservoir to 12-cup mark with fresh cold water.
  2. Place empty carafe on warming plate.
  3. Press POWER button to turn on; LCD will display time.
  4. Press BREW button to start cycle; discard water after cycle completes.
  5. Set clock time: Press and hold CLOCK button, then use HOUR/MINUTE buttons.

CAUTION! Ensure carafe is properly positioned before brewing to prevent spills.

Brewing Coffee

For best results, use fresh, cold water and whole bean coffee.

  1. Fill water reservoir to desired cup level.
  2. Add whole beans to bean hopper (max ½ lb).
  3. Set grind control (medium recommended).
  4. Set cup selector to match water level.
  5. Select brew strength (REGULAR or BOLD).
  6. Place empty carafe on warming plate.
  7. Press POWER, then BREW to start cycle.
  8. When brewing completes, auto shut-off activates.

Tip: For optimal flavor, grind beans just before brewing.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Daily: Wash carafe, lid, and filter basket with warm soapy water.
  2. Weekly: Descale with vinegar solution (1 part vinegar to 2 parts water).
  3. Monthly: Clean bean hopper and burr grinder with brush provided.
  4. Replace charcoal water filter every 60 days or after 60 uses.

WARNING! Unplug before cleaning. Never immerse base in water.

Programming Guide

Set the coffeemaker to brew automatically at a specific time.

  1. Ensure clock is set to correct time.
  2. Fill water reservoir and add beans to hopper.
  3. Press and hold PROGRAM button.
  4. Use HOUR and MINUTE buttons to set desired brew time.
  5. Release PROGRAM button; "PROG" icon appears on display.
  6. Coffeemaker will automatically grind and brew at set time.

To cancel program: Press and hold PROGRAM until "PROG" icon disappears.

Care & Storage

Unplug and allow to cool before storing. Store in dry place.
