Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect all components. Place on clean, dry, level surface near power outlet.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from carafe, filter basket, and water reservoir.
  2. Insert charcoal water filter: Soak filter in water for 15 minutes, then place in holder inside water reservoir.
  3. Wash carafe and filter basket with warm, soapy water; rinse thoroughly.
  4. Plug power cord into 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse coffeemaker base, cord, or plug in water. Ensure hands are dry when handling.

First-Time Use

Before first brew, run a cleaning cycle with water only.

  1. Fill water reservoir to 12-cup mark with fresh cold water.
  2. Place empty filter basket and carafe in position.
  3. Press POWER to turn on; press BREW to start cycle.
  4. Discard water from carafe after cycle completes.
  5. Set clock: Hold PROGRAM, use HOUR/MIN buttons to set time, press PROGRAM to confirm.

CAUTION! Do not add coffee grounds during cleaning cycle. Carafe may be hot.

Programming the Coffeemaker

To set automatic brew start time:

  1. Ensure clock is set correctly.
  2. Fill water reservoir and bean hopper.
  3. Place filter and empty carafe.
  4. Press and hold PROGRAM until "PROGRAM" flashes.
  5. Use HOUR/MIN to set desired brew start time.
  6. Press PROGRAM to confirm; "PROGRAM" will stay lit.
  7. Coffeemaker will grind beans and brew at set time.

Tip: To cancel programmed brew, press and hold PROGRAM until "PROGRAM" light turns off.

Grinder Operation

Burr grinder adjusts from coarse to fine.

  1. Add whole beans to hopper (max 1/2 lb).
  2. Turn grind control dial: Coarse for mild, Fine for strong.
  3. For pre-ground coffee: Press GRIND OFF button, add grounds to filter.
  4. Grinder operates automatically during brew cycle when GRIND OFF is not activated.

WARNING! Never insert spoons, fingers, or objects into bean hopper. Unplug before cleaning grinder.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Daily: Empty grounds basket, rinse carafe and filter basket. Weekly: Clean grinder with brush provided. Monthly: Descale with vinegar solution.

Descaling: Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in reservoir. Run brew cycle halfway, pause 1 hour, complete cycle. Rinse with two cycles of fresh water.

CAUTION! Unplug before cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners. Replace charcoal filter every 60 brews or 2 months.

Safety Information

For household use only. Polarized plug: fits outlet one way; do not modify. Keep cord away from heated surfaces. Do not operate without carafe in place. Not for outdoor use.
