Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a clean, dry, level surface away from edges.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and stickers from unit and carafe.
  2. Wash carafe, lid, and permanent filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
  3. Insert charcoal water filter into filter holder in water reservoir (soak filter 10 minutes first).
  4. Fill water reservoir completely, then run a brewing cycle with only water (no coffee) to clean interior.
  5. Plug into a 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse unit, cord, or plug in water. Keep away from heat sources.

First-Time Use

Set time and prepare for first brew.

  1. Set Clock: Press and hold HOUR and MINUTE buttons to set current time.
  2. Add Beans: Fill bean hopper with whole coffee beans (do not exceed MAX line).
  3. Select Grind Size: Turn grind selector dial to desired setting (Coarse, Medium, Fine).
  4. Select Cup Quantity: Press CUP button to match number of cups being brewed.
  5. Select Brew Strength: Press STRENGTH for Regular or Bold.
  6. Start Brewing: Press BREW to begin grinding and brewing cycle.

CAUTION! Ensure carafe is properly positioned on warming plate before brewing.

Programming & Timer

Set the unit to brew automatically at a specific time.

  1. Ensure clock is set to correct time.
  2. Press PROGRAM; "PROG" appears on display.
  3. Press HOUR and MINUTE to set desired brew start time.
  4. Press PROGRAM again to confirm.
  5. Fill water reservoir and add beans (or pre-ground coffee).
  6. Unit will grind and brew at programmed time.

Tip: To cancel program, press and hold PROGRAM until "PROG" disappears.

Grinding & Brewing

For whole bean or pre-ground coffee.

  1. Whole Beans: Ensure bean hopper lid is closed. Select grind size. Press BREW to start.
  2. Pre-Ground: Press GRIND OFF. Lift filter holder, add ground coffee to filter. Press BREW.
  3. Brew Pause: During brewing, you may remove carafe to pour a cup (up to 20 seconds).
  4. Auto Shut-Off: After brewing, warming plate stays on for set time (default 4 hrs).
  5. To Stop Brewing: Press BREW during cycle to cancel.

WARNING! Never remove filter holder during brewing. Do not touch hot surfaces.

Care & Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Daily: Wash carafe, lid, and permanent filter with warm soapy water.
  2. Weekly: Wipe exterior with damp cloth. Descale as needed with vinegar solution (run brew cycle with half water, half white vinegar, then rinse with two cycles of clean water).
  3. Monthly: Clean grinder by running ¼ cup uncooked rice through grind cycle to remove oils.
  4. Charcoal Filter: Replace every 60 uses or every 2 months.
