Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect all components. Place on a clean, dry, level, and heat-resistant surface.

  1. Initial Cleaning: Wash the carafe, lid, permanent filter, and filter basket with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
  2. Install Water Filter: Soak the charcoal water filter in cold water for 15 minutes. Rinse and insert into the water reservoir.
  3. Fill Reservoir: Add fresh, cold water to the desired cup level.
  4. Add Coffee: Place the permanent filter in the basket. Add whole beans to the hopper or pre-ground coffee to the filter.
  5. Power On: Plug into a standard 120V AC outlet. The LCD will illuminate.

WARNING! Do not immerse the power base, cord, or plug in water or other liquids. Ensure the unit is unplugged during cleaning of removable parts.

Controls and Functions

The control panel features an LCD display and membrane buttons for all operations.

Buttons:
ON/OFF: Powers the unit on for manual brewing or off.
PROGRAM: Used to set the clock and auto-brew time.
HOUR / MINUTE: Adjusts the time during clock setting and programming.
AUTO ON: Activates the programmed auto-brew function.
GRIND: Selects the grind amount (Cups 2-12).
BREW STRENGTH: Toggles between REGULAR and BOLD.
BEAN SELECT: Chooses between WHOLE BEAN and GROUND coffee.
AUTO OFF: Sets the automatic shut-off delay (0, 1, 2, 3, 4 hours).

Programming the Timer

To set the coffee maker to brew automatically at a specific time:

  1. Ensure the unit is plugged in and the clock is set to the correct time.
  2. Press and hold PROGRAM. The "Auto On" icon will blink.
  3. Use the HOUR and MINUTE buttons to set the desired brew time.
  4. Press PROGRAM again to confirm. The "Auto On" icon will stay lit.
  5. Fill the water reservoir and add coffee beans to the hopper the night before.
  6. The unit will grind the beans and begin brewing at the set time.

To Cancel Auto-Brew: Press and hold AUTO ON until the "Auto On" icon turns off.

Brewing Coffee

For immediate brewing (not using the timer):

  1. Ensure the carafe is in place on the warming plate.
  2. Fill the water reservoir with cold water to the desired cup level.
  3. Select WHOLE BEAN or GROUND using the BEAN SELECT button.
  4. If using whole beans, set the grind amount (2-12 cups) with the GRIND button.
  5. Select brew strength (REGULAR or BOLD).
  6. Press the ON/OFF button to start the brew cycle.
  7. The grinder will activate first (if using beans), followed by the brewing process.
  8. When brewing is complete, the unit will beep and enter keep-warm mode.

Tip: For best flavor, use fresh, cold water and whole beans. Clean the grinder and basket regularly.

Care & Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and coffee flavor.

  1. Daily: Empty and rinse the carafe and permanent filter. Wipe the warming plate with a damp cloth.
  2. Weekly: Descale the unit by running a brew cycle with a mixture of half white vinegar and half water. Follow with 2-3 cycles of clean water to rinse.
  3. Grinder Cleaning: Unplug the unit. Use the provided brush to clean the burr grinder of coffee oils and residue. Do not use water or liquids on the grinder.
  4. Water Filter: Replace the charcoal water filter every 60 days or after 60 brew cycles, or as needed for water hardness.
  5. Exterior: Wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.

CAUTION! Always unplug the unit before cleaning any part except the removable carafe and filter basket. Never immerse the main unit in water.
