Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, dry, level surface.

  1. Install charcoal water filter: Rinse filter, insert into filter holder in water reservoir.
  2. Insert carafe: Place thermal carafe on warming plate, ensuring lid is properly seated.
  3. Fill water reservoir: Use cold water only; do not exceed 12-cup mark.
  4. Plug into 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Ensure hands are dry when handling electrical components. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.

First-Time Use

Before first brew, run a cleaning cycle with water only.

  1. Set clock: Press CLOCK, then HOUR and MINUTE to set current time.
  2. Prime the filter: Fill reservoir, place empty carafe, press CLEAN to run water through system.
  3. Select grind setting: Turn grind selector to desired coarseness (1-18).
  4. Load coffee beans: Fill bean hopper with fresh whole beans; close lid securely.

Programming the Coffee Maker

To set automatic brew time:

  3. Press AUTO ON to activate programmed brewing.
  4. Ensure bean hopper has beans, reservoir has water, and carafe is in place.

Tip: Program up to 24 hours in advance. To cancel, press AUTO ON again.

Grinder Operation

For whole bean grinding:

  1. Set grind dial to desired setting (1 finest, 18 coarsest).
  2. Fill bean hopper; do not exceed MAX line.
  3. For pre-ground coffee: Set GRIND OFF, add grounds to filter basket.
  4. Grind amount adjusts automatically based on cup selection.

WARNING! Never insert utensils or fingers into grinder. Unplug before cleaning grinder area.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance.

  1. Daily: Rinse carafe and filter basket; wipe exterior with damp cloth.
  2. Weekly: Run cleaning cycle with vinegar solution (mix equal parts water and vinegar).
  3. Monthly: Clean grinder with brush; replace charcoal water filter every 60 cycles or 2 months.
  4. Descale: If in hard water area, descale every 3-6 months with citric acid solution.

CAUTION! Unplug before cleaning. Do not immerse base in water. Use only mild detergent.
