Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, dry, level surface.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from inside and outside the unit.
  2. Wash carafe, lid, and filter basket with warm soapy water; rinse and dry.
  3. Install charcoal water filter: Soak filter in water for 15 minutes, then insert into filter holder in water reservoir.
  4. Fill water reservoir completely, run a brewing cycle without coffee to clean internal system (discard water).
  5. Plug into grounded 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse base, cord, or plug in water. Keep away from heat sources and edges of countertops.

First-Time Setup

Plug in unit; digital display will light up.

  1. Set clock: Press and hold CLOCK button, use HOUR and MIN buttons to set correct time.
  2. Program auto brew: Press PROGRAM button, set desired brew time using HOUR/MIN.
  3. Adjust grind setting: Turn grind control knob to desired coarseness (1-18).
  4. Select brew strength: Press STRENGTH button to toggle between Regular and Bold.
  5. Set auto shut-off: Press AUTO OFF button to select 0, 2, or 4 hours.

CAUTION! Ensure carafe is properly seated on warming plate before brewing.

Grinder Operation

For whole bean coffee: Fill bean hopper (max 1/2 lb). For pre-ground: Use GRIND OFF.

  1. Select grind size: Turn knob to desired setting (1-18).
  2. Ensure GRIND OFF light is not illuminated.
  3. When brewing starts, grinder will automatically run to grind measured beans.
  4. To use pre-ground coffee: Press GRIND OFF button (light on), add grounds to filter basket.

Tip: Clean grinder periodically by running 1/4 cup uncooked rice through grind cycle.

Programming & Brewing

Daily brewing with or without programmed start time.

  1. Fill water reservoir with desired amount of water.
  2. Add whole beans to hopper or pre-ground to filter basket.
  3. For immediate brew: Press POWER button (brew begins immediately).
  4. For programmed brew: Press PROGRAM, set time with HOUR/MIN, then press POWER (clock icon flashes).
  5. During brew: PAUSE & SERVE allows interruption to pour cup.
  6. After brewing: Auto shut-off activates per setting (0/2/4 hrs).

WARNING! Never operate without water or coffee grounds in place. Always use filter.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Daily: Empty grounds, rinse carafe and filter basket. Weekly: Clean exterior with damp cloth. Monthly: Descale and clean grinder.

Descaling: When CLEAN light illuminates, run self-clean cycle with vinegar solution (1 part vinegar to 2 parts water). Follow with 2 cycles of clean water.

Charcoal Filter: Replace every 60 brew cycles or 2 months.

CAUTION! Unplug before cleaning. Never use abrasive cleaners or immerse unit.
