Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect all components. Place on clean, dry, level surface.

  1. Install charcoal filter: Rinse filter, insert into filter holder in water reservoir.
  2. Insert permanent filter: Place gold tone filter into filter basket.
  3. Add water: Fill reservoir with fresh cold water (up to 12 cups).
  4. Plug into 120V AC outlet.
  5. Set clock: Press CLOCK button and use HOUR/MIN to set correct time.

WARNING! Ensure unit is unplugged during initial setup. Keep away from water sources.

First-Time Use

Before first brew, run a cleaning cycle with water only.

  1. Fill water reservoir to maximum line.
  2. Ensure filter basket is empty (no coffee).
  3. Press BREW button to start cycle.
  4. Discard water after cycle completes.
  5. Repeat if desired to remove any manufacturing residues.

CAUTION! Do not add coffee during cleaning cycle. Allow unit to cool between cycles.

Programming & Operation

For automatic brewing at a set time.

  1. Set clock: Press CLOCK, then HOUR/MIN to set current time.
  2. Add coffee beans to bean hopper (max 1/2 lb).
  3. Set grind: Turn GRIND CONTROL dial (1=finest, 18=coarsest).
  4. Set brew strength: Press BREW STRENGTH for Regular or Bold.
  5. Program brew time: Press PROGRAM, then HOUR/MIN to set desired brew time.
  6. Ensure water reservoir is filled.
  7. Unit will automatically grind beans and brew at set time.

Tip: For immediate brewing, simply add beans/water and press BREW.

Grinder Operation

The integrated burr grinder provides fresh ground coffee for each brew.

  1. Fill bean hopper with whole beans (do not exceed max line).
  2. Select grind setting using GRIND CONTROL dial.
  3. For finer grind (espresso style): Use lower numbers (1-5).
  4. For medium grind (drip coffee): Use middle numbers (6-12).
  5. For coarse grind (French press): Use higher numbers (13-18).
  6. Grinder operates automatically during programmed or manual brew cycle.
  7. Clean grinder regularly to prevent oil buildup.

WARNING! Never insert spoons or fingers into bean hopper or grinder. Unplug before cleaning.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and coffee flavor.

  1. Daily: Empty and rinse carafe, filter basket, and water reservoir.
  2. Weekly: Run self-clean cycle (press and hold CLEAN for 3 seconds).
  3. Monthly: Clean grinder with dry brush; replace charcoal water filter.
  4. Exterior: Wipe with damp cloth; do not use abrasive cleaners.

CAUTION! Always unplug before cleaning. Never immerse unit in water.
