Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, dry, level surface.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from inside and outside the unit.
  2. Wash carafe, lid, and filter basket with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
  3. Insert charcoal water filter into filter holder in water reservoir (soak filter 15 minutes first).
  4. Place empty carafe on warming plate.
  5. Plug into 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse base, cord, or plug in water. Keep away from heat sources.

First-Time Setup

Before first use, run a brewing cycle with water only to clean the system.

  1. Fill water reservoir to 12-cup line with fresh water.
  2. Ensure filter basket is empty and carafe is in place.
  3. Press PROGRAM to set current time.
  4. Press BREW to start cycle. Discard water after cycle completes.
  5. Repeat once if desired. Unit is now ready for coffee brewing.

CAUTION! Handle carafe with care; it is not stove-top safe.

Control Panel: POWER, PROGRAM, CLOCK, BREW, AUTO ON, STRENGTH, GRIND OFF, 1-4 HOUR.

Buttons: POWER turns unit on/off. PROGRAM sets time and auto-brew. CLOCK adjusts time. BREW starts manual brewing. AUTO ON sets programmed brew time. STRENGTH selects Regular or Bold. GRIND OFF bypasses grinder for pre-ground coffee. 1-4 HOUR sets auto shut-off delay.

Settings: Use PROGRAM to set current time. Use AUTO ON to set desired brew time. Use STRENGTH for brew intensity. Use GRIND CONTROL dial to adjust grind coarseness. Use 1-4 HOUR to select auto shut-off duration.

Brewing Coffee

For fresh ground coffee or pre-ground coffee.

  1. Fill water reservoir with desired amount of fresh water.
  2. Add whole beans to grinder hopper (for ground coffee, skip to step 4).
  3. Set GRIND CONTROL dial to desired coarseness.
  4. Place filter basket in unit. If using pre-ground coffee, press GRIND OFF first.
  5. Add coffee grounds to filter basket (1 tbsp per cup recommended).
  6. Ensure carafe is in place.
  7. Press BREW to start immediate brewing, or set AUTO ON for delayed brew.
  8. When brewing completes, auto shut-off will activate after selected delay.

Tip: For best flavor, use fresh, cold water and clean unit regularly.

Programming

Set the clock and program auto-brew.

  1. Press and hold PROGRAM until hour flashes.
  2. Use HOUR and MIN buttons to set current time.
  3. Press PROGRAM again to set.
  4. To set auto-brew time: Press AUTO ON, then use HOUR and MIN to set desired brew time.
  5. Press AUTO ON again to confirm. "AUTO ON" will appear on display.
  6. Ensure unit is powered on, water and coffee are loaded, and carafe is in place.
  7. Unit will brew at set time automatically.

Note: To cancel auto-brew, press and hold AUTO ON until display clears.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Unplug before cleaning. Clean after each use.

  1. Carafe and lid: Wash with warm, soapy water. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  2. Filter basket: Remove and wash. Rinse charcoal filter monthly; replace every 60 uses or 2 months.
  3. Exterior: Wipe with damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals.
  4. Descale: Monthly, run a cycle with equal parts water and white vinegar, then run 2 cycles with clean water to rinse.
  5. Grinder cleaning: Unplug, remove hopper, wipe with dry cloth. Do not wash burrs.

CAUTION! Never immerse base in water. Do not use steel wool or abrasive pads.
