Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, dry, level surface.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from inside and outside the unit.
  2. Wash carafe, lid, and permanent filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
  3. Insert charcoal water filter into the filter holder in the water reservoir.
  4. Place the unit on a stable, heat-resistant countertop away from edges.
  5. Plug into a 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse base, cord, or plug in water. Keep away from children.

First-Time Setup

Before first use, run a brewing cycle with water only to clean the system.

  1. Fill water reservoir to the 12-cup mark with fresh cold water.
  2. Place empty carafe on the warming plate.
  3. Press the POWER button to turn on the unit.
  4. Press BREW to start the cleaning cycle. Discard water after cycle completes.
  5. Set time: Press and hold CLOCK, then use HOUR and MIN buttons to set current time.

CAUTION! Do not add coffee grounds during the cleaning cycle.

Brewing Coffee

For fresh-ground coffee using built-in grinder.

  1. Fill water reservoir to desired cup level using water window.
  2. Add whole coffee beans to the bean hopper (max 1/2 lb).
  3. Set grind size using GRIND CONTROL dial.
  4. Select brew strength (REGULAR or BOLD).
  5. Place carafe on warming plate.
  6. Press POWER, then BREW to start grinding and brewing.
  7. Use PAUSE & SERVE to pour a cup during brewing.

Tip: Use 1 tablespoon of beans per cup for optimal flavor.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Unplug and cool before cleaning. Clean after each use.

  1. Carafe and lid: Wash with warm, soapy water. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  2. Permanent filter: Rinse under water; use soft brush to remove grounds.
  3. Grinder: Wipe bean hopper with dry cloth. Do not wash.
  4. Exterior: Wipe with damp cloth. Do not immerse in water.
  5. Descale: Run vinegar solution monthly if using hard water.

CAUTION! Never immerse base, cord, or plug in water.

Programming Guide

Set the coffeemaker to brew automatically at a specific time.

  1. Ensure current time is set correctly using CLOCK.
  2. Fill water reservoir and add beans to hopper.
  3. Press PROGRAM. "PROG" icon flashes.
  4. Use HOUR and MIN to set desired brew time.
  5. Press PROGRAM again to confirm. "PROG" icon stays lit.
  6. Coffeemaker will grind and brew at the set time.
  7. To cancel program, press and hold PROGRAM until "PROG" icon turns off.

Note: Auto shut-off turns unit off 2 hours after brewing.
