Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a clean, dry, level surface.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and stickers.
  2. Wash the carafe, lid, and permanent filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
  3. Insert the charcoal water filter into the filter holder in the water reservoir (soak filter first for 15 minutes).
  4. Fill the water reservoir with cold water to the 12-cup line and run a brewing cycle without coffee to clean the system.
  5. Plug the power cord into a standard 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse the coffeemaker base, cord, or plug in water or other liquids. Ensure the carafe is properly seated before brewing.

First-Time Setup

Power on the unit; set the clock and preferences.

  1. Set the Clock: Press and hold the HOUR and MINUTE buttons to set the current time.
  2. Program Auto Brew: Press the PROGRAM button, then use HOUR/MINUTE to set the desired brew time. Press PROGRAM again to confirm.
  3. Select Brew Strength: Press the BREW STRENGTH button to toggle between REGULAR and BOLD.
  4. Select Grind Setting: Turn the grind selector knob to choose from Fine to Coarse grind.
  5. To use pre-ground coffee: Set the GRIND CONTROL switch to OFF.

CAUTION! Ensure the grinder hopper lid is securely closed before operation.

Brewing Coffee

Supports whole bean or pre-ground coffee.

  1. Fill the water reservoir with cold water to desired cup level.
  2. Add whole coffee beans to the grinder hopper (up to the MAX line).
  3. Place the gold-tone filter into the filter basket.
  4. Ensure the carafe is properly seated on the warming plate.
  5. Select brew strength and grind setting (or set GRIND CONTROL to OFF for pre-ground).
  6. Press the POWER button to start immediate brewing, or set the PROGRAM timer for delayed brew.
  7. When brewing is complete, the unit will beep and auto-shutoff. Pour coffee from the carafe.

Tip: For best flavor, use fresh, cold water and whole beans. Clean the grinder and carafe regularly.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Unplug before cleaning. Clean exterior with a damp cloth.

  1. Carafe and Lid: Wash with warm, soapy water after each use.
  2. Permanent Filter: Rinse under water; remove coffee oils with a soft brush.
  3. Grinder: Wipe hopper with a dry cloth. Do not wash burrs.
  4. Charcoal Filter: Replace every 60 brew cycles or every 2 months.
  5. Descale: Run a brewing cycle with a descaling solution (vinegar mix) every 3-6 months to remove mineral deposits.

CAUTION! Never immerse the base unit in water. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
