Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, dry, level surface.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from inside and outside the unit.
  2. Wash carafe, filter basket, and permanent filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  3. Insert charcoal water filter into filter holder in water reservoir (soak filter first for 15 minutes).
  4. Place empty carafe on warming plate.
  5. Plug into 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse cord, plug, or unit in water. Keep away from heat sources.

First-Time Setup

Power on coffee maker; set clock and prepare for first brew.

  1. Set the clock: Press and hold CLOCK button, use HOUR and MIN buttons to set correct time.
  2. Prime the system: Fill reservoir with water, place empty carafe, press BREW button to run water through system (discard water).
  3. Insert permanent filter into filter basket.
  4. Add ground coffee: Use 1 tablespoon per cup (adjust to taste).
  5. Fill water reservoir to desired cup level.

CAUTION! Ensure carafe is properly positioned before brewing to prevent spills.

Brewing Coffee

  3. Brew Pause: Press BREW PAUSE during brewing to pour a cup (resumes automatically after 20 seconds).
  4. Brew Strength: Press BREW STRENGTH before brewing for Regular or Bold flavor.
  5. Auto Shut-Off: Press AUTO ON/OFF to set duration (0, 1, 2, 3, 4 hours).

WARNING! Do not remove carafe during brewing except during brew pause feature. Hot liquid can cause burns.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Unplug before cleaning. Clean exterior with damp cloth. Descale monthly if using hard water.

  1. Daily: Wash carafe, filter basket, and permanent filter with warm, soapy water.
  2. Monthly descaling: Fill reservoir with equal parts white vinegar and water. Run brew cycle halfway, then turn off and let sit 30 minutes. Complete cycle, then run 2-3 cycles with clean water.
  3. Charcoal filter: Replace every 60 days or after 60 uses.
  4. Exterior: Wipe with soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
