Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, dry, level surface away from edges.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from inside and outside the unit.
  2. Wash carafe, filter basket, and charcoal water filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
  3. Insert charcoal water filter into the filter holder in the water reservoir (soak filter for 15 minutes first).
  4. Place empty carafe on the warming plate.
  5. Plug power cord into a 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse base, cord, or plug in water. Keep away from heat sources and flammable materials.

First-Time Setup

Power on coffeemaker; set clock and preferences.

  1. Set the Clock: Press and hold HOUR and MINUTE buttons to set current time.
  2. Prime the Filter: Run a full cycle of clean water through the unit without coffee.
  3. Set Auto Shut-Off: Press AUTO OFF button to select duration (0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 hours).
  4. Set Brew Strength: Press BREW STRENGTH button to toggle between Regular and Bold.
  5. Test Brew: Add water and ground coffee to make a test pot.

CAUTION! Ensure carafe is properly seated on warming plate before brewing.

Brewing Coffee

Supports ground coffee; use medium grind for best results.

  1. Fill reservoir with cold water using water window as guide.
  2. Insert filter (paper or permanent) into filter basket.
  3. Add ground coffee (1 tablespoon per cup).
  4. Place carafe on warming plate.
  5. Press POWER to start immediate brew, or set PROGRAM for delayed brew.
  6. Use PAUSE & SERVE to interrupt brewing and pour a cup.
  7. When brewing completes, audible signal sounds and AUTO OFF countdown begins.

Tip: For optimal taste, replace charcoal water filter every 60 cycles or 2 months.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Unplug and cool before cleaning. Wash carafe, lid, and filter basket after each use.

  1. Exterior: Wipe with damp cloth; do not use abrasive cleaners.
  2. Carafe and Lid: Hand wash with mild detergent; not dishwasher safe.
  3. Filter Basket: Remove and clean under running water.
  4. Charcoal Filter: Replace every 60 cycles or as indicated.
  5. Warming Plate: Wipe with damp cloth when cool.

CAUTION! Never immerse base, cord, or plug in water.

Descaling

Mineral buildup from hard water can affect performance. Descale every 3-6 months.

  1. Fill reservoir with equal parts white vinegar and water.
  2. Place empty carafe on warming plate.
  3. Press CLEAN button; unit will run descaling cycle.
  4. After cycle, discard vinegar solution.
  5. Rinse by running two cycles of clean water through unit.
  6. Wipe exterior and carafe.

WARNING! Ensure proper ventilation during descaling due to vinegar odor.
