Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a clean, dry, level surface near a power outlet.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and tape from the unit.
  2. Wash the carafe, lid, filter basket, and permanent filter (if included) with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
  3. Insert the charcoal water filter into the filter holder in the water reservoir (soak filter first for 5 minutes).
  4. Fill the water reservoir completely and run a brewing cycle with only water (no coffee) to clean the system.
  5. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.

WARNING! Do not immerse the base, cord, or plug in water. Ensure the appliance is unplugged during cleaning.

First-Time Use

Before first brew, perform a cleaning cycle as described above.

  1. Set the clock: Press HOUR and MINUTE buttons to set the current time.
  2. Fill the bean hopper with whole coffee beans (for grinding) or leave empty if using pre-ground.
  3. Ensure the grind-off switch is set to your preference (ON for grinding, OFF for pre-ground).
  4. Fill the water reservoir with cold, filtered water to desired cup level.
  5. Place a #4 paper filter or permanent filter in the filter basket.
  6. Close the lid and press the BREW button to start immediate brewing, or program for later.

CAUTION! The carafe and brewed coffee will be hot. Handle with care.

Programming the Coffee Maker

  3. While holding PROGRAM, press HOUR and MINUTE to set the desired brew time.
  4. Release PROGRAM. The programmed time is now set.
  5. Fill the bean hopper with beans, water reservoir with water, and place filter in basket.
  6. The coffee maker will automatically grind and brew at the set time.

Tip: To cancel a programmed time, press and hold PROGRAM until the display returns to current time only.

Using the Grinder

The built-in burr grinder provides fresh ground coffee for each brew.

  1. Ensure the GRIND-OFF switch is in the ON position (grinder enabled).
  2. Fill the bean hopper with whole coffee beans. Do not exceed the MAX line.
  3. Adjust the grind size dial to desired coarseness (clockwise for finer, counterclockwise for coarser).
  4. When brewing starts, the grinder will automatically grind the correct amount of beans for the selected number of cups.
  5. For pre-ground coffee, set the GRIND-OFF switch to OFF and add ground coffee directly to the filter basket.

WARNING! Never operate the grinder without beans, and keep fingers away from the grinder opening.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and coffee flavor.

  1. Daily: Wash carafe, lid, and filter basket with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
  2. Monthly: Descale the machine by running a cycle with equal parts white vinegar and water, then run several cycles with clean water to rinse.
  3. Grinder Cleaning: Unplug unit. Remove bean hopper and wipe interior with a dry cloth. Do not wash grinding mechanism.
  4. Charcoal Filter: Replace every 60 uses or every 2 months for best results.
  5. Exterior: Wipe with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
