Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a clean, dry, level surface near a power outlet.

  1. Install Charcoal Filter: Rinse filter, insert into holder in water reservoir.
  2. Prepare Carafe: Wash carafe, lid, and filter basket with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
  3. Insert Permanent Filter: Place the gold-tone permanent filter into the filter basket.
  4. Fill Water Reservoir: Lift lid, add fresh cold water up to desired cup level (1-10).
  5. Plug into AC power outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse base, cord, or plug in water. Keep away from heat sources and edges of counters.

First-Time Use

Before first brew, perform a cleaning cycle to remove any manufacturing residues.

  1. Set Time: Press and hold CLOCK, use HOUR and MIN to set current time.
  2. Clean Machine: Fill reservoir with fresh water (no coffee). Place empty carafe on warming plate. Press CLEAN. Cycle runs for about 30 minutes.

Programming the Coffeemaker

  3. Confirm: AUTO ON icon will illuminate on display.
  4. To Cancel: Press AUTO ON again; icon turns off.

Tip: Ensure water reservoir is filled and beans are in hopper the night before. Use GRIND OFF if using pre-ground coffee.

Using the Grinder

Grinds fresh beans automatically before each brew.

  1. Add Beans: Fill bean hopper with whole beans (max capacity marked).
  2. Select Grind Size: Turn dial (Fine for strong, Coarse for mild).
  3. Grind-Off Mode: Press GRIND OFF to bypass grinder (use pre-ground in filter basket).
  4. Strength Select: Press STRENGTH for Bold (more coffee grounds) or Regular.
  5. Brew: Press BREW to start grinding and brewing cycle.

WARNING! Never put water, ground coffee, or anything other than whole beans in the bean hopper. Unplug before cleaning grinder area.

Care & Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and coffee flavor.

  1. Daily: Wash carafe, lid, and filter basket with warm soapy water. Rinse.
  2. Weekly: Clean grinder by brushing out any residual grounds. Wipe bean hopper.
  3. Monthly: Run cleaning cycle (press CLEAN) with equal parts water and white vinegar, then run twice with fresh water only.
  4. Charcoal Filter: Replace every 60 uses or 2 months (whichever comes first).

CAUTION! Unplug and allow to cool before cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
