Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, dry, level surface away from edges.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and tape from unit.
  2. Wash carafe, lid, gold-tone filter, and charcoal filter holder in warm soapy water. Rinse and dry.
  3. Insert charcoal water filter into holder and soak in water for 15 minutes.
  4. Place filter holder into water reservoir.
  5. Fill reservoir with water to maximum line and let water run through into carafe (without coffee) to prime filter. Discard water.
  6. Plug into 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Ensure unit is unplugged during cleaning and setup. Keep away from water sources.

First-Time Use

Set clock and prepare for first brew.

  1. Plug in unit; LCD will flash 12:00.
  2. Press and hold HOUR and MINUTE buttons to set current time.
  3. Fill water reservoir to desired cup level (1-12).
  4. Add whole beans to grinder hopper (max ½ cup).
  5. Select grind size (1-10) using grind selector dial.
  6. Place empty carafe on warming plate.
  7. Press POWER to turn on, then BREW to start grinding and brewing cycle.

CAUTION! Do not operate without water or coffee in filter basket. Ensure carafe is properly positioned.

Grind Off: Press to use pre-ground coffee (bypass grinder). Auto Shut-Off: Automatically turns off 0-4 hours after brewing (selectable).

Programming the Timer

Set unit to grind and brew automatically at a specific time.

  1. Ensure clock is set to correct time.
  2. Fill water reservoir and add beans to hopper.
  3. Press PROGRAM; "PROG" appears on display.
  4. Press HOUR and MINUTE to set desired brew time.
  5. Press PROGRAM again to confirm.
  6. Ensure POWER is on (display shows time).
  7. Unit will automatically grind and brew at set time.

Tip: For best results, set timer for at least 10 minutes ahead to allow heating.

Grinding & Brewing Process

Supports whole beans or pre-ground coffee.

  1. Whole Beans: Ensure GRIND OFF is not lit. Select grind size. Beans will grind directly into filter basket.
  2. Pre-Ground: Press GRIND OFF button. Add ground coffee to filter basket (1 tbsp per cup).
  3. Start Brewing: Press BREW button. Grinding (if enabled) and brewing will start.
  4. Brew Pause: Press BREW PAUSE during cycle to pour cup; press again to resume.
  5. Auto Shut-Off: Unit turns off after brewing; warming plate stays on for set time (0-4 hrs).

WARNING! Never remove filter basket during brewing. Keep hands away from grinder area.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Unplug and cool before cleaning. Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance.

  1. Daily: Wash carafe, lid, and filter basket in warm soapy water.
  2. Weekly: Clean grinder by running ¼ cup uncooked rice through grind cycle to remove oils.
  3. Monthly: Descale with vinegar solution (1 part vinegar to 2 parts water). Run through brew cycle without coffee. Rinse by running two cycles with clean water.
  4. Charcoal Filter: Replace every 60 uses or 2 months.

CAUTION! Do not immerse base in water. Use only damp cloth for exterior.
