Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect all parts. Place on a clean, dry, level surface away from edges.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from inside and outside the unit.
  2. Wash the carafe lid, permanent filter, and charcoal water filter holder with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  3. Insert the charcoal water filter into the holder and soak in water for 15 minutes. Place in the water reservoir.
  4. Place the permanent filter into the filter basket.
  5. Fill the water reservoir with cold water to the desired cup level.

WARNING! Ensure the unit is unplugged during setup. Do not immerse the base, cord, or plug in water.

First-Time Use

Before brewing your first pot, run a brewing cycle with only water to clean the system.

  1. Ensure the carafe is empty and properly positioned on the warming plate.
  2. Fill the water reservoir with fresh cold water up to the 12-cup mark.
  3. Press the POWER button to turn the unit on.
  4. Press the BREW button to start the water-only cycle.
  5. Discard the water from the carafe after the cycle is complete.
  6. Your Grind & Brew is now ready for use.

CAUTION! The carafe and brewed coffee will be hot. Handle with care.

Controls and Settings

Control Panel: POWER, BREW, PROGRAM, HOUR, MINUTE, GRIND OFF, and CUP SELECT (1-4, 5-8, 9-12).

Functions: POWER turns unit on/off. BREW starts manual brewing. PROGRAM sets auto-brew time. HOUR/MINUTE adjust clock and program time. GRIND OFF bypasses the grinder. CUP SELECT chooses the amount of coffee to brew.

Grind Control Dial: Located on the side of the bean hopper. Turn to select grind size from Fine to Coarse.

Programming the Timer

To set the clock and program the unit to brew automatically at a specific time.

  1. Press and hold the PROGRAM button.
  2. While holding PROGRAM, press the HOUR button to set the desired hour (AM/PM).
  3. Press the MINUTE button to set the desired minutes.
  4. Release the PROGRAM button. The clock is now set.
  5. To set the auto-brew time, press PROGRAM once. The PROGRAM light will blink.
  6. Use HOUR and MINUTE to set the time you want brewing to start.
  7. Press PROGRAM again to confirm. The PROGRAM light will stay lit.
  8. Ensure the bean hopper has beans, the water reservoir is filled, and the carafe is in place. The unit will brew at the set time.

Tip: To cancel auto-brew, press and hold PROGRAM until the light turns off.

Brewing Coffee

For fresh ground coffee or using pre-ground.

  1. With Whole Beans: Fill bean hopper. Set grind size. Select cup amount. Ensure GRIND OFF light is not lit. Press BREW.
  2. With Pre-Ground Coffee: Press GRIND OFF button (light will turn on). Add grounds to the permanent filter. Select cup amount. Press BREW.
  3. The grinder will activate first (if not in GRIND OFF mode), followed by brewing.
  4. You can pause brewing to pour a cup by lifting the carafe. Replace within 30 seconds to continue brewing.
  5. An audible signal will sound when brewing is complete. The unit will shut off automatically.

WARNING! Never remove the bean hopper lid while grinding is in progress. Never operate without the filter basket and permanent filter in place.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Unplug and cool completely before cleaning.

Daily: Wash carafe, lid, and permanent filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.

Weekly: Wipe exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Clean the bean hopper and grinding chamber with the provided brush.

Monthly: Descale the water reservoir and internal tubes using a vinegar solution (run a brew cycle with half water, half white vinegar, then run 2 cycles with clean water). Replace the charcoal water filter every 60 days or as needed.

CAUTION! Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads. Do not immerse the base unit in water.
