Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect all parts. Place on a clean, dry, level surface away from edges.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from inside and outside the unit.
  2. Wash carafe, lid, filter basket, and charcoal water filter with warm soapy water. Rinse thoroughly.
  3. Insert charcoal water filter into the filter holder in the water reservoir.
  4. Fill water reservoir completely and run a brewing cycle with only water to clean the system (no coffee).
  5. Plug into a 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse the base, cord, or plug in water. Ensure hands are dry when handling plug.

First-Time Use

Before brewing coffee, prime the system and set the clock.

  1. Set the clock: Press and hold CLOCK, then use HOUR and MIN buttons to set the correct time.
  2. Select grind setting: Turn the grind control knob to desired coarseness (recommend medium for first use).
  3. Select brew strength: Press BREW STRENGTH for regular or bold.
  4. Add whole beans to the bean hopper (max 1/2 lb).
  5. Place a #4 paper filter or permanent filter into the filter basket.
  6. Fill water reservoir to desired cup level.
  7. Press BREW to start the grind and brew cycle.

CAUTION! Ensure the carafe is properly positioned on the warming plate before brewing.

Programming the Timer

To set the unit to grind and brew automatically at a specific time:

  1. Ensure the clock is set correctly.
  2. Press and hold PROGRAM for 3 seconds until the PROGRAM light flashes.
  3. Use HOUR and MIN to set the desired start time.
  4. Press PROGRAM again to confirm.
  5. Fill bean hopper with whole beans and water reservoir with water.
  6. Place empty carafe on warming plate.
  7. Press AUTO ON. The AUTO ON light will illuminate.

Tip: The grinder and brewer will start automatically at the set time. Ensure the carafe is in place.

Grinding & Brewing

For manual (immediate) grinding and brewing:

  1. Add whole beans to bean hopper (do not exceed max line).
  2. Place filter in basket and ensure basket is locked into place.
  3. Fill water reservoir to desired cup level (marked on side).
  4. Select grind setting with GRIND CONTROL knob.
  5. Select brew strength if desired.
  6. Place carafe on warming plate.
  7. Press BREW. The grinder will start first, then brewing begins automatically.
  8. To pause brewing, lift carafe. Replace within 30 seconds to continue.
  9. When brewing is complete, auto-shutoff will turn off the warming plate after the set time.

WARNING! Never remove bean hopper or filter basket during operation. Keep hands away from grinder area.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Daily: Wash carafe, lid, and filter basket with warm soapy water.
  2. Monthly: Clean the burr grinder by running a small amount of uncooked rice through it, then wipe with a dry cloth.
  3. Descale: Every 3-6 months, run a brewing cycle with equal parts white vinegar and water, then run 2 cycles with clean water to rinse.
  4. Charcoal Filter: Replace every 60 uses or every 2 months.
  5. Exterior: Wipe with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

CAUTION! Unplug before cleaning. Never immerse base in water. Allow all parts to dry completely before reassembly.
