Using the Charcoal Water Filter

The filter improves taste by reducing chlorine, calcium, and other impurities.

  1. Soak new filter in cold water for 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly.
  2. Insert into the filter holder and place the holder into the water reservoir.
  3. Replace the filter every 60 brew cycles or every 2 months, or as needed for water hardness.
  4. To clean the holder, remove and rinse under warm water.

Tip: For best results, use cold, filtered water. Do not use without the filter holder installed.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity.

  1. Daily: Wash carafe, lid, and filter basket with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
  2. Exterior: Wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse in water.
  3. Decalcification (Descaling): Perform every 2-3 months or when mineral deposits slow brewing. Use a commercial descaling solution or white vinegar:
    • Fill reservoir with half vinegar, half water.
    • Run a brew cycle without coffee grounds.
    • Discard solution, then run 2-3 cycles with clean water to rinse.
  4. Warming Plate: Clean with a damp cloth when cool. Stains can be removed with a paste of baking soda and water.

WARNING! Always unplug and allow to cool completely before cleaning. Never immerse the base, cord, or plug in water.

Care Instructions

Handle glass carafe with care. Avoid sudden temperature changes.
