Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, dry, level surface away from edges.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from inside and outside the coffeemaker.
  2. Wash carafe, filter basket, and permanent filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
  3. Insert charcoal water filter into the filter holder in the water reservoir (soak filter first per instructions).
  4. Plug power cord into a 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse coffeemaker, cord, or plug in water or other liquids. Keep away from heat sources.

First-Time Setup

Before first use, run a brewing cycle with water only to clean the system.

  1. Fill water reservoir to 12-cup line with fresh cold water.
  2. Place empty filter basket and carafe in position.
  3. Press the ON/OFF button to start brewing cycle.
  4. Discard water after cycle completes. The coffeemaker is now ready for use.
  5. Set clock: Press and hold HOUR and MINUTE buttons to set current time.

CAUTION! Ensure carafe is properly seated on warming plate before brewing.

Brewing Coffee

For best results, use fresh, cold water and medium grind coffee.

  1. Fill water reservoir with desired amount of cold water.
  2. Place gold-tone filter in filter basket.
  3. Add coffee grounds: 1 level scoop per cup (adjust to taste).
  4. Place empty carafe on warming plate.
  5. Press ON/OFF to start brewing immediately. Or, set PROGRAM for delayed brew.
  6. Brew Pause feature allows pouring a cup during brewing.
  7. When brewing completes, audible signal sounds. Coffee is kept warm on plate.

Tip: For optimal flavor, use the 1-4 Cup setting when brewing less than 5 cups.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Unplug and cool completely before cleaning.

  1. Carafe and filter basket: Wash with warm, soapy water. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
  2. Exterior: Wipe with damp cloth. Do not immerse.
  3. Decalcification: Run a cycle with vinegar solution monthly if in hard water area (mix ¼ cup white vinegar with water to fill reservoir). Follow with 2 cycles of clean water.
  4. Charcoal filter: Replace every 60 brew cycles or every 2 months.

CAUTION! Never clean with scouring pads or harsh chemicals. Do not place carafe on stove or in microwave.
