Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a clean, dry, level, and heat-resistant surface.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and stickers.
  2. Wash the carafe, lid, and filter basket with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
  3. Insert the charcoal water filter into the holder in the water reservoir (soak filter first for 15 minutes).
  4. Fill the water reservoir with cold water to the desired level.
  5. Plug the power cord into a standard 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse the coffeemaker base, cord, or plug in water or other liquids. Ensure the power cord is not dangling over the edge of a counter.

First-Time Setup

Plug in the coffeemaker; the LCD will illuminate.

  1. Set the clock: Press and hold the HOUR and MINUTE buttons to set the current time.
  2. Prime the filter: Run a brewing cycle with only water (no coffee) to saturate the charcoal filter.
  3. Select default temperature: Press the TEMP button to cycle through options (default is 200°F).
  4. Set auto-shutoff: Press the AUTO OFF button to select duration (0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 hours).

CAUTION! The heating plate and carafe become hot during use. Handle with care using the handle.

Brewing Coffee

Supports ground coffee; use medium grind for best results.

  1. Fill the water reservoir with cold water to desired cup level.
  2. Place a paper filter or use the permanent gold-tone filter in the filter basket.
  3. Add ground coffee (1 tablespoon per cup, adjust to taste).
  4. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
  5. Press POWER to begin brewing. The BREW light will illuminate.
  6. To pause brewing, press BREW PAUSE (lift carafe). Replace within 30 seconds to resume.
  7. When brewing is complete, an audible alert will sound. The AUTO OFF countdown begins.
  8. To program for later: Set clock, then press PROGRAM and use HOUR/MINUTE to set start time. The PROGRAM light will illuminate.

WARNING! Do not remove the carafe while brewing unless using the Brew Pause feature. Hot liquid may spill.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Unplug and cool completely before cleaning. Wipe exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

  1. Daily: Empty and rinse carafe and filter basket.
  2. Monthly: Run a cleaning cycle with a coffeemaker cleaner or a solution of vinegar and water.
  3. Self-Clean: When the CLEAN light illuminates, press and hold the CLEAN button for 3 seconds to start the cycle (run with water only).
  4. Charcoal Filter: Replace every 60 brew cycles or every 2 months.

CAUTION! Never immerse the base, cord, or plug in water. Do not clean with scouring pads or harsh chemicals.
