Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect all contents. Place on a clean, flat, stable surface near a power outlet.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from inside and outside the unit.
  2. Wash the removable water reservoir, drip tray, and cup rest with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
  3. Place the drip tray onto the base.
  4. Insert the water reservoir into the back of the unit until it clicks into place.
  5. Plug the power cord into a standard 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Ensure the unit is on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from edges. Keep cord away from hot surfaces.

First-Time Use

Before first brew, run a cleansing cycle with fresh water.

  1. Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water up to the MAX line.
  2. Place a mug (at least 10 oz) on the drip tray.
  3. Press the POWER button. The power light will illuminate.
  4. Do NOT insert a pod or ground coffee. Turn the Brew Size Selector to the 10 oz setting.
  5. Press the BREW button. Allow the full cycle to run, dispensing hot water into the mug.
  6. Discard the water. The unit is now ready for use.

CAUTION! The water and brewed coffee will be very hot. Avoid contact with steam.

Controls and Operation

Basic Operation: 1. Fill reservoir with cold water. 2. Press POWER. Power light turns on. 3. Place mug on drip tray. Adjust cup rest if needed. 4. Insert a coffee pod OR add ground coffee to the reusable filter and insert. 5. Turn the Brew Size Selector to your desired cup size (6, 8, 10, 12, 14 oz). 6. Press BREW. Brewing will begin and hot coffee will dispense. 7. When cycle is complete, remove your mug. The unit will keep water hot for a short time.

Auto-Off Programming: Press and hold the POWER button for 3 seconds. The power light will blink. Press POWER repeatedly to cycle through auto-off intervals: 0 min (Off), 30 min, 60 min, 120 min. The light will stay solid on your selection.

Brewing Guide

For optimal coffee flavor, use fresh, cold water and your preferred coffee.

  1. Using Coffee Pods: Lift the pod holder handle, insert a single-serve pod, and close the handle firmly.
  2. Using Ground Coffee: Place the reusable filter into the pod holder. Add one tablespoon of medium-ground coffee per 6 oz of water. Do not overfill.
  3. Selecting Brew Size: Choose based on your mug size and desired strength. Smaller sizes yield stronger coffee.
  4. Brewing: Press BREW. The cycle takes approximately 1-2 minutes depending on selected size.
  5. Pausing Mid-Brew: Press BREW again to pause. Press again to resume. Not recommended as it may affect flavor.

Tip: Preheat your mug with hot water for a hotter final brew.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures best performance and longevity.

Daily: - Remove and rinse the drip tray, cup rest, and water reservoir. - Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth.

Weekly: - Clean the pod holder area: Open the handle and wipe inside with a damp cloth to remove coffee residue. - Wash the reusable filter (if used) with warm, soapy water.

CAUTION! Unplug the unit and allow it to cool completely before cleaning. Do not immerse the main unit, cord, or plug in water or any liquid.

Descaling

Mineral deposits from water can build up. The Descaling Alert light will illuminate when it's time to descale (approx. every 3 months or after 300 brews).

  1. Fill the reservoir with a mixture of 24 oz white vinegar and 24 oz fresh water.
  2. Place a large mug or carafe (at least 24 oz) on the drip tray.
  3. Turn the Brew Size Selector to 14 oz.
  4. Press POWER, then press BREW. Run a full cycle, dispensing the solution into the mug.
  5. Discard the solution. Repeat steps 1-4 with fresh water only (no vinegar) for 2-3 cycles to rinse the system thoroughly.
  6. The Descaling Alert light will turn off after the process is complete.

WARNING! Use only food-grade vinegar. Do not use descaling tablets not recommended by Cuisinart.
