Assembly & Installation

Unpack all parts and inspect for damage. Place on a clean, dry, stable countertop.

  1. Attach the bowl: Place the stainless steel bowl onto the base and turn clockwise to lock into place.
  2. Install attachment: Choose the desired attachment (dough hook, flat beater, or wire whip). Insert it into the attachment hub on the motor head and turn clockwise to secure.
  3. Attach splash guard: Place the splash guard onto the bowl, aligning the tabs.
  4. Insert pouring shield: Slide the pouring shield into the slot on the splash guard.
  5. Plug into a grounded 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Ensure the mixer is unplugged during assembly. Do not force attachments; they should lock smoothly.

First-Time Use

Before first use, wash the bowl, attachments, splash guard, and pouring shield in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.

  1. Assemble the mixer as described above.
  2. Plug the power cord into an outlet.
  3. Test operation: Turn the speed dial to the lowest setting (Stir) without any ingredients to ensure smooth operation.
  4. Familiarize yourself with the speed control and timer functions.

CAUTION! Never operate the mixer without the bowl and attachment properly installed. Keep hands and utensils away from moving parts.

Controls and Settings

Speed Control Dial: Located on the front of the motor head. Rotate clockwise to increase speed. Settings include Stir (1), Low (2-4), Medium (5-8), and High (9-12).

Timer: The built-in timer is set by turning the timer dial. It will count down and sound an alert when time is up. The mixer will not turn off automatically.

Tilt-back Head Release: Lever on the back of the motor head. Pull to tilt head back for access; push down to lock in mixing position.

Power Cord: Store excess cord by wrapping it around the feet on the underside of the base.

Using Attachments

Each attachment is designed for specific tasks:

  1. Flat Beater: Use for general mixing, creaming butter and sugar, cake batters, and cookie dough.
  2. Wire Whip: Use for whipping cream, egg whites, and light batters to incorporate air.
  3. Dough Hook: Use for kneading yeast bread dough, pizza dough, and other heavy doughs.

Tip: Always start on the lowest speed (Stir) when adding dry ingredients to prevent flour from flying out.

Operating Instructions

For best results, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure the mixer is assembled correctly and the head is locked down.
  2. Add ingredients to the bowl. Do not exceed the maximum capacity line.
  3. Select the appropriate attachment for your task.
  4. Set the timer if desired.
  5. Turn the speed dial to the recommended starting speed (see Speed Guide).
  6. Use the pouring shield to add ingredients gradually while mixing.
  7. When finished, turn the speed dial to "0" and wait for the attachment to stop completely before tilting the head back.
  8. Remove the bowl or use a spatula to scrape down the sides as needed.

WARNING! Never insert hands, spatulas, or other utensils into the bowl while the mixer is running. Always tilt the head back and unplug the mixer before changing attachments or cleaning.

Care & Cleaning

  1. Bowl and Attachments: Wash in warm, soapy water or place on the top rack of the dishwasher. Dry thoroughly.
  2. Splash Guard & Pouring Shield: Hand wash with warm, soapy water. Do not immerse the motor head in water.
  3. Motor Head and Base: Wipe with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or submerge.
  4. Storage: Store attachments in a dry place. Wrap the power cord around the base feet.

CAUTION! The motor head is not dishwasher safe. Never immerse it in water or run it under the tap.

Cuisinart offers a limited 3-year warranty on the SS-780PC Stand Mixer. This warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal household use. Proof of purchase is required.
