Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect all components. Place on stable, level, heat-resistant surface.

  1. Remove all packaging materials and stickers.
  2. Fill water tank with fresh, cold water and reinsert securely.
  3. Plug power cord into 120V AC outlet.
  4. Turn power switch to ON (I). Machine will illuminate.
  5. Allow machine to heat up (approx. 90 seconds).

WARNING! Ensure machine is on a stable, dry surface away from water sources. Do not operate without water in tank.

First Use & Priming

Prime the machine before first use to remove air from the system.

  1. Ensure water tank is full and securely in place.
  2. Turn power ON. Let machine heat until ready light is steady.
  3. Place a large cup under the brew head and steam wand.
  4. Turn steam knob to open position for 10 seconds to purge water line, then close.
  5. Press and hold the single shot button for 10 seconds to run water through group head.
  6. Discard water. Machine is now primed and ready.

CAUTION! Surfaces will become hot during use. Use handles and avoid contact with steam wand immediately after use.

Grinder Settings: Adjust dial from 1 (finest) to 30 (coarsest). Dose Control: Use Grind Time knob to set dose from 7g to 18g. Programmable Buttons: Hold single or double button during extraction to set desired volume; machine will remember. Temperature: Pre-set for optimal extraction; not user-adjustable.

Brewing Espresso

For best results, use freshly roasted beans and filtered water.

  1. Turn grinder dial to desired fineness (start at 8-12 for espresso).
  2. Fill bean hopper with whole beans.
  3. Place portafilter into grinder cradle and press to grind dose.
  4. Distribute grounds evenly in portafilter and tamp firmly.
  5. Lock portafilter into group head.
  6. Place pre-warmed cup under portafilter.
  7. Press single or double shot button to start extraction.
  8. Stop manually or let programmed volume complete. Ideal extraction time is 25-30 seconds for 2 oz.

Tip: Always purge group head for 2 seconds before inserting portafilter to heat it.

Frothing Milk

Use whole milk for best microfoam texture.

  1. Ensure machine is heated and ready light is on.
  2. Fill pitcher 1/3 full with cold milk.
  3. Purge steam wand for 2 seconds to clear condensation.
  4. Submerge wand tip just below milk surface, turn knob to open.
  5. Lower pitcher as foam forms to keep tip near surface.
  6. Heat milk to 150°F (65°C). Do not boil.
  7. Turn steam knob to close, wipe wand immediately with damp cloth.
  8. Purge wand briefly to clear milk residue.

WARNING! Steam is extremely hot. Keep hands clear and always purge before and after use.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Daily cleaning ensures optimal performance and longevity.

CAUTION! Unplug machine and allow to cool completely before cleaning. Never immerse in water.

Descaling Procedure

Descale every 2-3 months or when descale indicator lights.

  1. Fill water tank with descaling solution (Cuisinart recommended) mixed with water.
  2. Place large container under group head and steam wand.
  3. Turn machine ON and allow to heat.
  4. Press and hold both single and double shot buttons for 5 seconds to enter descale mode.
  5. Follow on-prompt lights: open steam knob to run solution through steam system.
  6. Press single shot button to run solution through brew system.
  7. Repeat steps 5-6 until tank is empty.
  8. Rinse tank thoroughly, refill with clean water, and repeat process 2-3 times to flush.
