Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, dry, level surface.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from inside and outside the unit.
  2. Wash carafe, lid, and permanent filter with warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry.
  3. Insert charcoal water filter into the filter holder in the water reservoir (soak filter first for 15 minutes).
  4. Place empty carafe on the warming plate.
  5. Plug power cord into a 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Do not immerse unit, cord, or plug in water. Keep away from heat sources and edges.

First-Time Setup

Before first use, run a cleaning cycle with water only.

  1. Fill water reservoir to 14-cup line with fresh, cold water.
  2. Place empty carafe on warming plate.
  3. Press and hold CLEAN button for 3 seconds to start cleaning cycle.
  4. Allow cycle to complete (approx. 30 minutes). Discard water from carafe.
  5. To program clock: Press and hold HOUR and MIN buttons to set current time.
  6. To set auto off: Press AUTO OFF to select duration (0-4 hours).

CAUTION! Use only cold water. Do not use without water in reservoir.

Brewing Coffee

For best results, use fresh, cold water and medium grind coffee.

  1. Fill water reservoir to desired cup level (1-14).
  2. Place permanent filter in filter basket. Add coffee (1 tbsp per cup).
  3. Place empty carafe on warming plate.
  4. Press ON/OFF to start brewing immediately.
  5. For delayed brew: Press PROGRAM, set time with HOUR/MIN, then press ON/OFF.
  6. To pause brewing: Press BREW PAUSE, pour cup, then press again to resume.
  7. After brewing, coffee stays warm on plate (auto shut-off applies).
  8. For hot water: Press ON/OFF with empty filter basket and carafe in place.

WARNING! Do not remove carafe during brewing except during brew pause. Hot surfaces present.

Care & Cleaning

Unplug and cool before cleaning. Clean exterior with damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

  1. Daily: Wash carafe, lid, and permanent filter with warm, soapy water.
  2. Monthly: Run cleaning cycle (press CLEAN) with vinegar solution (1 part vinegar to 2 parts water) to descale.
  3. Charcoal Filter: Replace every 60 uses or 2 months for best taste.
  4. Exterior: Wipe with soft, damp cloth.
