Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on clean, dry, level surface.

  1. Remove all packaging materials from carafe, filter basket, and water reservoir.
  2. Wash carafe and filter basket with warm, soapy water; rinse thoroughly.
  3. Insert charcoal water filter into filter holder in water reservoir (soak filter first for 15 minutes).
  4. Plug power cord into 120V AC outlet.

WARNING! Keep cord away from heated surfaces. Do not immerse coffee maker in water.

First-Time Setup

Before first use, run a cleaning cycle with water only.

  1. Fill water reservoir to 12-cup line with fresh cold water.
  2. Place empty carafe on warming plate.
  3. Press and hold CLEAN button for 3 seconds to start cleaning cycle.
  4. After cycle completes, discard water from carafe.
  5. Set clock: Press and hold HOUR and MINUTE buttons to set current time.
  6. Program brew time (optional): Press PROGRAM, set desired brew time, then press PROGRAM again.

CAUTION! Do not use without water. Ensure carafe is properly positioned.

  3. For thermal carafe: Remove glass carafe; place thermal carafe on warming plate (warming plate remains on).
  4. Replace charcoal filter every 60 cycles or 2 months.

Brewing Coffee

Supports ground coffee only; do not use whole beans.

  1. Fill water reservoir with desired amount of cold water (use water window markings).
  2. Place filter in basket (permanent or paper).
  3. 3. Add ground coffee (1 tablespoon per cup; adjust to taste).
  4. Place empty carafe on warming plate.
  5. Press POWER to turn on (green light).
  6. Select brew strength (optional).
  7. Press BREW NOW to start immediate brewing.
  8. For delayed brew: Set clock, press PROGRAM, set brew time, press PROGRAM again.
  9. Use BREW PAUSE to pour cup during brewing (pause up to 30 seconds).

WARNING! Do not remove carafe during brewing except during brew pause. Hot liquid may spill.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Daily: Empty and rinse carafe and filter basket. Wipe exterior with damp cloth.

Weekly: Run cleaning cycle (press CLEAN when indicator lit). Descale if needed with vinegar solution (1 part vinegar to 2 parts water).

Monthly: Replace charcoal water filter. Check for mineral buildup in reservoir.

CAUTION! Unplug before cleaning. Never immerse base in water. Use only mild detergent.
